Q: how many miles about do the the subaru wrx’s run to before they have major problems?
im looking into buying a used subaru wrx around an ‘02 to ‘05 and i wasnt sure how many miles they typically run to before they have problems. and also i would like it if you could give me some opinions on the car. thanks.
A: There’s no set mileage any car typically runs to before things wear out. All cars begin wearing as soon as you drive off the lot. Take a Honda for example, I’ve seen some run well past 200k miles on the stock motor, and some die off before even 120k.
Keep up on the maintenance or do better than just keeping up with the maintenance and you can make the car last a long time. Some on the other hand are just plain lemons and were doomed from the start.
Q: Insurance estimate on a 2003 Subaru WRX for a 19 year old?
Im a 19 year old student with a completely clean driving record. Just curious on how much the insurance would be on a 2003 Subaru WRX (not sti) sedan. I wouldn’t be the primary driver. My mom would be the owner I would just be a secondary driver. Any estimates?
A: Help yourself – you can check your quotes in internet, for example here – carquotes.sinfree.net
Q: Any good shops to take a Subaru WRX to near Winter Haven, Lake Wales area.?
I need to take a Subaru WRX to a shop that specializes in subaru wrx’s or other imports with turbos. Any good places?
A: Try a subaru dealership.
Or just any mechanics shop, they would know how a wrx works just as well as an import shop.
Q: Where to find a Subaru Wrx engine that is cheap?
I have a 2010 Subaru Impreza 2.5i and im looking for a faster engine and instead of getting a new car im trying to find a used 2008 Subaru Impreza Wrx engine or a 2009 Impreza Wrx engine..
A: i would start searching online junkyards and calling junkyards around town. a lot of times cars get totalled because of frame/body/suspension damage, and the engine, if you know how to inspect it, can still be usable.
junkyards that i’ve been to have had a pretty good idea of what’s on their lot, but you never know. take a stroll around one; it’s kind of fun.
Q: What is the maintenance like on a subaru wrx.?
Thinking about getting a used subaru wrx does anyone know what the maintenance is like. Is it alot to maintain or is low to maintain, because i drive a acura now and I’ll tell you that honda is very reliable. Just want to know if subaru is the same. Because im looking for a nice sports car thats good on gas and good in the snow and the wrx has that 4cyl awd. Also which year has the least defects and problems. Thanks
A: Well not to scare you but buying a used wrx is a little dangerous. You dont know if the owner before you has beat on it putting tons of huge upgrades then downgrading it back to stock to sell it before it blows up. If you do find one that an older couple has had that would be the best. Taking care of them is no more expensive than most cars, just make sure to do the 30k,60k,and 90k since these are critical to the drivetrain of our vehicle and all the fluids need to be changed along with the spark plugs.
Q: My 17 year old son wants a Subaru WRX STI, but im not sure if he can handle it. Should i let him get one?
He is going to pay for about 70% of everything. I have to pay the rest. He has had his lisense for about a year and a half now and has not had an accident yet. He does good in school too. But a Subaru WRX STI seems a little too much for a 17 year old boy to handle. Should i let him buy one? Used of course.
A: it depends – do you think he has a potential of street racing? when he drives, does he usually like to floor it a lot, as well as speed over the limit and run red lights? if any of those are true, then most likely he’s gonna race it. but if he’s a good, decent driver who does well in school and takes driving seriously, then it should be ok.
it might take a while to get used to, but think of it this way – if your son has the ability to control and drive a 300hp rally car every day, imagine how good of a driver he’ll be – the subaru has extremely good brakes, could save his life – the car is built to be fast reaction and light on its feet, so avoiding an accident will be easier than most cars. there are also times when you really need to power to get out of the way to avoid a colision, and its nice to know hes got 300hp to help him out
overall, buying this car will make him a better, skilled driver. but remember, YOU are the parent. if you dont think he can handle it, then feel free to say no – your the parent – u make the choice
Q: What kind of store do I go to for add-on’s to my Subaru WRX?
My husband has a Subaru WRX and he wants an intake, and a few other things for his birthday. Where do I go to find that stuff?
A: You can go to any high performance auto shop. I would recommend Subaru approved parts. The parts department at a Subaru dealer will carry approved parts. Be careful Subaru is very particular about add-ons. I have seen it happen before were Subaru will void the warranty because of after market add ons that may damage the power-train.
Q: how does the subaru wrx handbrake work?
i was in a subaru wrx and the guy who was driving always used the handbrake to stop the car ? he used the normal brakes but like barely ever? why is that? whats wrong with using the normal brakes? i dont understand it? is it because of the turbo?
A: There is no advantage to this at all. If anything, the guy is begging to get rear ended because when you use the parking brake, the brake lights do not turn on. So if he is doing that, he’s slowing down the car w/o giving people behind him any warning at all. Like they said the turbo has nothing to do with it, and I’m really at a loss as to why he would do this.
You should ask him if he’s trying to get rear ended because this is extremely dangerous
Q: What should I get painted on a blue WRX Subaru?
My cousin might get something painted on her blue WRX Subaru (She’s 16), but doesn’t know what to get. She is flirty, fun, popular, and really nice. She doesn’t want it to be girly, so no flowers, but maybe some hearts if done tastefully. Also, what colors might look nice? Thanks!
A: If she want to keep the blue of the Subaru WRX, try a bronze color of strip or flame style, or the 3D bronze heart. Another color, Subaru blue with artic white strip. If she want another color, she can try a deep grey color on brown with light blue little heart.
Q: i have a 2003 subaru wrx. Ive been told to change to a front mount intercooler is this worth it?
i have a 2003 subaru wrx. Ive been told to change the top mounted intercooler to a front mount intercooler is this worth the hassel? Im eventually wanting to add a better/bigger turbo, cams, headers. and better piping and removing unnessecary weight.
A: Yes, only if you plan on running a larger turbo down the road. You will also need some sort of tune or re-flash with a fmic. I will say though that when you are running your fmic while you still have your stock turbo, dont expect to notice any giant gains, and realistically the only thing you may notice from it is increased lag. But I have heard that the lag is minimal, and in many cases not that noticeable. They do look awesome though don’t they? lol.
Q: how much does a new 2008 subaru impreza wrx worth?
since it is almost 2010, how much does this car worth? the dealer off 26888 O.T.D. Is it worth it and can the price be lower. If it can, what would be the lowest price. It is a 2008 subaru wrx with nav and everything.
A: Your question is impossible to answer without knowing whether it’s a sedan or hatchback, any of the other optional features it includes, and any additional rebates and incentives Subaru may be offering for previous model year vehicles which is entirely dependent upon the state where the vehicle will be registered.
Given that it’s a 2008 and has never been titled, it should include its full original warranty which will considerably increase its value over the estimated dealer retail of more than $25,000 for a fully-optioned used example with 10 miles. Given that clearing the vehicle off the dealer’s books may be its biggest concern, that doesn’t mean it’s willing to take an unnecessary loss. But at $26,888 “out the door”, considering that will include more than $1,000 in sales tax, it certainly seems like a reasonable value.
Q: why is the Subaru WRX STI more sucesful than the Mitsubishi EVO?
Subaru wrx sti and mitsubishi Evo are close rivals and are similar but why Subaru has sold a larger amount of wrx sti’s than the Evo’s.. Is it because Subaru came out before Mitsubishi or something?
I also see more WRX’s or STI’s on the road than Ralliarts or EVO’s.
So I want to know why is the subaru more sucesful than the mitsubishi? thanks
A: Subaru has a better name then Mitsubishi. What I mean is, their name has a better reputation of being reliable, and extremely safe cars. While I’m not saying that Mitsubishi makes bad cars, not saying they make good cars either, They are in no way built like a Subaru. I saw a commercial that said all of Subarus 2010 cars have like a 5 star crash rating or something, and their the only company that can say that which is remarkable. Also all of their cars come standard with awd, as they have for ever. Subaru just gives you a whole lot of bang in all their vehicles, for not a lot of buck. Plus the STI has always been an overall better looking and operating car. Evo’s may be able to beat out the STI in acceleration and on the track sometimes, but it’s by such a slim margin that the driver is what really makes the difference.
Q: What model years match the ‘04 Subaru Wrx Sti?
For those who know more about the specifics of these cars and when they changed what things on them, if my dream car is an ‘04 Subaru Wrx Sti, for the sake of the body styling in the grille and headlights, what other years (before and after) of this car are identical, and outward from there what are the first changes they started to make, such that i’d be able to know that hypothetically while an ‘0x had an identical body, the engine or drivetrain were different in some way?
A: Basically when the STI first came out in 04 it was just a WRX with the bigger motur, 6 speed and Brembo breaks. from 05 they got quite different than the WRX. Strut setup changed as well as the track. 05 an up STI’s only use a different bolt pattern on the wheels and are not interchangable with any other subaru models. 07 got a new turbo that was the same size but with a little better exhaust flow. They also got a little different gearing as well.
I’m sure i missed some things but that’s the basic differences. I would say the 04 is a good car cuz all parts are interchangable with other models and all engine and suspension upgrades for other models will also fit the04 STI too.
Q: what is the full form of wrx in a subaru wrx?
wrc is a word we can find in a rally car especially with subaru wrx sti, what is the full form of wrx.

A: Yup, it stands for world rally experimental, a lot of people get the misconception that it stands for world rally cross, but the first one is right.
Q: replacing lowering springs with stock springs on a subaru WRX?
I recently bought a 2005 subaru WRX wagon and the previous owner put lowering springs on it. I live with alot of snow and I have no ground clearence and it makes for a crappy car in the snow. I was wondering how much putter the stock springs back on it would be and I was wondering how much it would be to get it done. I was also wondering if going back to the stock springs is going to help me at all of not…
A: Stock springs will give you some more clearance and soften the ride a little on bumpy, snowy roads. My suggestion would be to find someone on NASIOC.com local to you selling WRX springs and struts still assembled and then it would be a simple remove and replace job. My friend and I do this every sprig and fall and it does not take long at all so a shop should not charge a whole lot but you really have to call around to get quotes. If you just want to change the springs, I would be surprised if a shop charges over $200. It should be less if you buy the springs and struts together because it’s the removal of the spring that can be time consuming. You will also have to get an alignment too after wards and that can cost another $100 for an AWD car. But agin, you need to call around because shop rates may be different here than where you live.
