Q: I need a carburetor for a 1982 Mazda RX7, where can I find one or a junk car with an engine I can pull 1 from?
It is a 1982 Mazda RX7 3 Speed with a rotary 4 cylinder engine. My friends old mechanic stole the carburetor and moved and now I can’t find one anywhere. any help would be greatly appreciated!

A: Things will change a lot before you turn 16 and there will be many more options to by then and the cars you mentioned will have been all but killed off.
Edit: Have you heard the engines close up? Both have unique sound? You may fall in love with one or the other, personally, I love the sound of a rotary on headers. I also had a Supra but it threw a rod.

A: Unlike what many people think they know, the Rotary engine is a great motor and can last a very long time…in the hands of a KNOWLEDGEABLE owner.
Regrettably, this doesn’t include most teenagers who want nothing but power. The motor can produce tons of HP, but at the cost of reliability.
Since you’re looking at your first car an RX7 could be a good choice, but only the non-turbo FB or FC models. Properly maintained these could last you for years. If you choose a turbo FC or FD model you will very likely be popping motors all over the place. And as a novice driver the turbo models will be FAR more car then you could handle. You may not have time to pop an engine…you’ll wrap the car around a tree first.
If you do buy an RX7 do make the assumption that the motor will need replacing, and budget accordingly. Unless you know the history of the car and it’s previous owner you have no way of knowing if the motor was properly maintained.

Q: Whats the most efficient and safest way to prepare a Mazda Rx7 for the winter?
This is for a 1994 model.Even though it isn’t a good car for the winter i still would like to take it out sometimes. I was wondering what can i do or tune up to prevent problems in winter conditions.For instance snow tires,smaller rims etc. I won’t be taking it out during rain or snow, just maybe on a chilly day. I live in Nyc by the way. Thanks in advance.
A: I drove one for 2 winters. Not the ideal car to drive in the snow. I put about 350 lbs. in the back for traction and it helped a lot. If had had a different car to drive I would have parked the RX in the winter I’ll tell you that.

It is red with leather interior, even has the original tires which may not be road worthy simply due to age. No rust and overall excellent condition
Most sites do not seem to take into account the low mileage and actual condition of the vehicle. The vehicle also has the leather interior, runs perfect aside from the ac not working. It even has the original tires on it and has always been garaged only taken out on nice days. No leaks and the only new parts are the plugs and battery.

A: Well you don’t say much on why you have a hard time turning it on. It could be a number of things be more specific on whats wrong to get better answers.As for my answer it could be a battery prob it could be an alternater prob spark plug prob or a seal prob maybe more detail is needed to answer properly

Do I need to do anything special for the rotors? I have new spark plugs, and wanna change the oil too
A: make sure you check to see that its not seized up. then pour a cap full of power steering fluid into each housing, bottom plugs, and let it sit for a few minutes. then fire it up, it will smoke like hell for a little bit but the power steering fluid helps make sure the apex seals dont damage the housing, the smoke will go away. then after a while make sure you do a compression test on it. it should have atleast 85psi on both rotors, if not then it will need to be rebuilt.

A: some what easy yes remove door panel undo window inside lift and maybe have to turn it one way or the other lift it out each car wil be about same just have to work it up and out really not much more than removing door panel

A: Unless someone rebadged the car they only had the turbo II badge from 86-88. These are not as expensive as the 93-95 RX7s which go for around $15 in good condition. I would say $5 for a car in decent condition which runs. $8 for a clean car in good condition. Knowing the engine, I would think that if it is sitting, it is not working. In that case, it going to cost more to get it running than it is worth.
Q: Does Mercedes still manufacture alot of old mercedes car parts? Because Mazda Rx7 parts are hard to get?
The reason i am asking because i am think purchasing mercedes model still deciding and Mazda Rx7 is hard to come across parts for repairs and replace? i am looking for validation if that is true.
A: No manufacturer makes parts for old cars to make you buy a new one. Aftermarket suppliers DO but generally for only American cars because…well…American’s don’t let go of anything.
