Q: What can I do to assure that I dont mess up my new Honda Accord.?
I scheduled an oil change for the 30th of this month. My oil life is down to 15% right now because I took a trip. I am a female who doesnt really know anything about cars, so to get that 15% up do all I have to do is put oil in? Or will it still say 15%

A: it does not mean that your low it means that once your down to around 15 to 20 percent left you need an oil change. This is an example if you just got you oil changed and your gauge was at 100 percent and you got 10,000 miles every time you changed your oil ( LIKE I SAID EXAMPLE) you would only have 1500 miles left. But usaully you only get 3 to 5 thousand miles every oil change so im going to say you have about 150 to 400 miles left so you get the idea

A: i would take it to a detail shop and let them do it because they got products that are stronger and better. if you try it you might make it worst.

Q: I bought a new Honda accord 2006 what should I do?
I did not get the paint sealer ($500) or the interior protecter, should I just wax the car and spray scotch guard the seats?
Should I wait before I wax it? should I just scotch guard the cloth inside?

A: THANK YOU!! Finally someone who CARES about their car.

Best steps would be to get a can or two of 3M scott guard, found at any local stores. Ensure interior is clean, dry and freshly vacuumed. Open all doors, remove floor mats and spray down every inch of the material on the inside. Doors, seats, carpet, seat backs, under seats, floor mats outside, trunk, etc. Let air dry for an hour with all open. Put back together.

Exterior, find a local paint and body shop supply store, even a Napa (not autozone, auto parts warehouse, etc). Buy a good wax like 3M, Meguiar’s or Wizards and find a paint sealant as well. Ensure the car is washed good with a car wash soap, never dishwashing soap. Ensure it is fully dry. Apply the paint sealant like you would wax (out of the sun of course) and allow to dry/cure by the specs on the bottle. After you remove the paint sealant follow up with a coat of wax. Double waxing the front clip of the car (bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors). This is the area that takes the most abuse.

Yearly waxings should go by the color of the car but remember you can never over wax your car. Even a coat a day won’t hurt it but just protect it more and more.

White – 1 coat a year
Silver family – 2 coats a year
Gold family – 3 coats a year
Blue family – 4 coats a year
Red or Black – 6 coats a year

You did great buy not being suckered into the “new car treatment” from the dealership for $500. All that would of been was a detailer spraying your interior down with 3M scotch guard and running a fast paint sealant over the car. Never the quaily you will do yourself at home.

Q: There are few dents on my new honda accord (bcos of small accident that I did). How do I get rid of these?
I hit the fence when I was tring to backing up the car. The bumper was broken 4 inches long.

A: the bumper was “broken?” then you need to replace it, the stock bumper (i’m assuming since you bought it new) is made out of poly urethane. you can’t really “fix” those things, you could cover it up but why waste your money? it’s still gonna look funky. you should go and get a new bumper from precision auto parts. i think thats what it was called??? they are pretty good, decent parts, affordable, good fitment.

Q: Should I give a UAW member a ride to the unemployment office in my new Honda Accord?
Maybe I should just let him walk. The exercise may do a UAW member a lot of good since he has never had to work hard in his life.

A: if hes been a member of the UAW for 20yrs or more he does not need your ride he’s a millionaire and he’s driving an Escalade

Ok no figures on any car will match fiures given in press, I am interested in opinions from Honda Accord (new dieselmodel) owners
who have made the effort to compare fuel consumption figures in town and motorway. I am thinking of buying one.
How does it compare with BMW or Audi equivalents?

A: Why not read the reviews in Parkers Guide and Auto Express they both give good reports for the Honda. However, if you wants class and economy buy a German motor. The Honda should average 50MPG. A 2.0 ltr AudiA4 about 47 and BMW3 series 49MPG. The VW Passat though is best value though and will give you 48MPG. I have bought the Passat after spending weeks deciding between the Honda and German car. The VW is great to drive and own and the depreciation is excellent – unlike the Honda

A: Depends is it fully loaded?

Either way in this market I would ask how close to $15,000 they can get. Around here in my parts you can pick one up for about $13K.

A: Well it depends on the warranty… used cars rarely have good warranties and at times it can come in handy. Make sure a certified mechanic checks out the Mercedes before buying it.

Q: I have brand new Honda accord 2008 model with 7000 miles on it its due for its first service the light came on
Should I go for just oil change or its going to cost lot more then oil change. This is my first car and i have little knowldege about that please help.

A: i work in the service department at a honda dealership. what your car has is a maintance minder system. typically it will come on between 7500-10000 miles. at 7000, your car just needs an oil change. wait to get it serviced when its closer to 10,000 miles.
