Q: Can the Mazda RX-8 be a family car? Will a car seat fit into the one of the rear bucket seats?
We currently own a Mazda 3, me, my wife, and our little daugher that just turned 1, but we want something a little more sporty!
Well i couldn’t resist it, a 2004 Mazda RX-8 Grand Touring with 5200 miles for $19,626. This car is loaded with every option except navigation, original sticker of $31K
Yea, I bought the car a few days ago, im going to pick it up tomorrow! It is a Grand Touring model so its got every option except the Navigation system.

A: It can be a family car if you only have two children. For a coupe, the back seat is roomy.

Q: Do you have to upgrade your Mazda RX 8 Starter?
I commonly see concerns over weak starters in early model RX8’s and wasn’t sure if I should just replace mine as a preventative step. Do all early model RX8’s eventually need an upgraded starter? My current one cranks a little slower then I’m used to, but is that okay to deal with?

A: I would contact your local dealership and have them check to see if your car a a recall or some thing like that because allot of them do and as far as just a preventative step it wouldn’t hurt to get a another starter just as long as you get it from a dealership because they did do an update for the starters so that they start faster to prevent the car from flooding

Q: I’m looking for power, looks and “cool” but it has to be reliable too – Do I buy a used Mazda RX-8
I’m very keen on the looks and unique qualities of the RX-8 – the smooth engine, the Bose sound system and the general design of the car. However, I’ve heard that fuel economy and oil consumption are a problem, and that the car has poor build quality (e.g. easily worn seats). Do you own a Mazda RX-8? If so, how much do you spend on fuel & oil, and would you generally recommend the RX-8? If not, what would you recommend instead. I’m looking to spend around £12000 on a used car with great performance and looks.

A: I have a 2006 RX-8 GT. 10000km in, fuel economy getting better but it is respectable for a sports car. It only uses premium fuel though, I was told dont even try regular or you will wreck it. Oil consumption isnt bad, it all depends on how you drive it. I was told to check it every second gas fill, and add as necessary. Normally, I have to add less than a quarter litre, or nothing.

I hear bad things about the 2004, although I am told you shouldnt buy a car the 1st time it comes out, gotta work out the bugs in the first year I guess…

I have nothing bad to say about it, other than with winter coming i am a little scared to drive it. Need winter tires for sure.

I assume 12000 pounds is about $6000, and there is no way you will find an RX-8 for this?… unless it needs a rebuild, or its in pieces… rebuilding a rotary is tedious and very expensive, over double a normal combustion engine.

Q: can you do a fuel injection service on a 05 mazda rx-8?
I recently went to wal-mart to get a fuel injection service and the mechanic send he couldnt perform the service because of the seals on the rotary engine. Is this true?

A: IF the Wal-mart tech actually does fuel injector cleaning by disable the RX8 fuel supply to injectors and then connect injector cleaning tool to your Mazda RX8 fuel injector high pressure line (remember: FUEL line) then run your engine using pressurized mixture of gasoline and strong cleaner: it will be OK. Most general repair shop and fast lube place will not do this kind of service because it requires higher skill technician, lot of information about fuel system of many make and model and lot of fuel line adapter (expensive) to work with many make and model.

So they normally do something else and call it injector service. They will add a can of injector cleaner into your gas tank. Everybody (including you) can do this by going to buy a bottle of injector cleaner and add to your gas tank at fill up. Next, they will install a UNIVERSAL kit to intake manifold to allow some kind of cleaner fluid to be draw into intake while the engine is running. This fluid will be burned in engine combustion charmber but never went throught injector at all so it will not do anything to clean your injectors.
This service is harmful to your engine and emission system (especially Rotary engine). It can damage catalyst converter, can cause engine lock up, long list of problem……..

If you really want to have injector clean, find a shop where they really do it. If you want Wal-mart way, just buy injector cleaner off the shell to add in your gas tank at fill up (waste of money)

Q: How much would a brand new mazda rx-8 wankel engine cost?
This question is for my project so please help me out and give me some sources on how much it would cost thanks alot

Rebuilt engines generally run around the $2000 mark.

New “crate” engines have to come from Japan as the only place the rotary’s are built are in Mazda’s plant in Hiroshima. I believe they cost in excess of $6000.

Q: What problems may I encounter with a Mazda RX-8?
I am thinking of purchasing one, but I have been hearing a lot of bad press about them. Please share any information you have about them or any experiences you have had.

A: They flood a lot. If you do not allow the car to completely warm up before shutting it off, it will flood. If you do not have time to wait for it to warm up, you can also rev it up to (i think) 5,000rpms for 8 seconds and this will burn the gas in the engine so it does not flood… Other then the flooding problem, I haven’t had any other problems. I love it!

How much horsepower does it have?

A: The Mazda RX-8 has an inline 4 cylinder engine (I-4) that produces 212hp. While it does have really aggressive styling, for the $27,000 price tag it’s really not that fast or powerful

The new V6 Mustangs are faster, more powerful, and $7,000 cheaper. For the price of an RX-8 you can get a V8 Mustang GT with over 300hp.

Although I have always loved the RX-8’s looks.

Q: Can Mazda RX-8’s come with a tow package?
Can Mazda RX-8’s come with a tow package? I need to tow my boat and looking for a seconed hand series 1.

A: IF YOU LOVE YOUR CAR DON’T DO IT.. NO MATER WHAT..

Q: What type of gas does a Mazda RX-8 use?

A: I use shell v power at 98 ron and it works a treat. 95 ron works just as well but my recommendation is stay away from supermarket petrol.

Q: How Do I Change a Fuse on my 2004 Mazda RX-8?
I removed the cover to the fuse box and there is no diagram telling me which fuse goes to what like there is supposed to be. Also, when I use these plastic tweezers to try to pull out a fuse it won’t come out.

I have tried looking through the manual but it doesn’t provide the diagram. I have also tried searching online but have not had any luck.

A: the diagram is in the back of the the book for which fuses do what,,and it does show a good picture of this in there ,you have to pull hard on these fuses to get them out,,sometimes there a little stubborn to get out,,but they will come out,,and you,ll have to look good for the diagram,,but im sure its there,,i had one of those cars,,good luck with it,hope this help,s.

Q: Is it Possible To Install A new Head-Unit in a 2004 Mazda RX-8?
I have seen the interior of the RX-8 and it seems as if the car’s radio is also part of the air conditioning as well. I have always wanted to know, since i am thinking of buying one, if the stereo could be replaced with a new head unit if i took it to a Place taht does Car Audio. WOuld i be able to install like say, a Pioneer? Or a Sony Xplod?

A: Mazda recommends 91 octane although you can run lower.

I don’t recommend it, though. I tried running 89 and could feel a definite difference in throttle response.

A: The leg room is not the greatest unless the driver is a small person then its fine. I took mine on a road trip couple weeks back with four people total and we were perfectly fine for the 2hour drive and each one of us were around 6′.
