Q: Does a sunroof come standard on a 2004 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo?

A: Yes, both versions of the 2004 New Beetle coupe came with a moon roof/sunroof as standard equipment (GLS turbo or Turbo “S” model), in the USA market.

Q: What is the gas mileage for a 2003 Volkswagen New Beetle Turbo S?
It has an automatic transmission and takes Premium gas.

A: It looks like about 23 mpg average, 21 city and 28 hwy.

See sources.

Q: 2003 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo Water pump?
I have a 2003 vw ^^ i belive its the 1.8 its 5 speed standard.. its overheating there is no leak, there is no flow back into the resevior for the antifreeze… i beleive its the water pump.. the fans turn on so its not the thermostat.. How do i fix this the easiest way myself..

please no stupid answers like take it to a shop or your ******* or something stupid.

any help however is great!

A: Could still be the thermostat. The thermostat has nothing to do with the fans those would be relays. The T-stat is a small metal disc in the coolant line if it sticks it can cause your car to run hot in the summer or possibly stop your heater from working in colder weather. I have never experienced a water pump go out that did not leak severely but that may only be my experience.

Q: Should I buy a 2000 Volkswagen Beetle GLS Turbo?
I’m looking at buying a used one for my first car.
My mom says it cost a lot to repair VW’s..is that true?
If anybody knows if it’s a good car or not or has some experience with them I would appreciate it. Thanks!

A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carquotes.fateback.com

Q: Could a Turbo Volkswagen Beetle beat a Mustang GT?

A: You could chip / re-program the ECM for $500 and it would smoke a STOCK mustang.

Now a pumped mustang would beat a pumped beetle.

Q: Volkswagen New Beetle VR6 Turbo?
Do they make a special tuned 6 cylinder New Beetle with a turbo? If there is, what is the model? Also what are the estimated HP/ Torque specs?

A: No – there is no VR6 turbo – in North America all 2007 Beetles have the normally aspirated. 2.5L five – although there have been turbo 4’s (1.8) in previous years.

I don’t believe VW has ever had either a VR6 in the New Beetle or a turbo VR6 in any car – at least not in North America.

Q: How much should a timing belt replacement cost on a 2000 VW Beetle?
I have a 2000 Volkswagen Beetle TDI (turbo diesel) in need of a new timing belt and tensioner. Parts and labor, how much should this maintenance cost me (at a repair shop — not a VW dealership)?

A: i work for a VW dealer in California, beetles are cramped at the same time you do the timing belt you should also do the water pump because you dont have to repay for labor even at dealer rates with coolant, the belt and water pump this rarely works out at over 550 the tensioner is the single most expensive part not doing the timing belt at every 60k miles for a manual transmission and 40k miles for a automatic can lead to very expensive repairs, if the belt brakes or tensioner fails. i would recommend taking it to the dealer simply because they do this work every day and are familiar with the cam timing and injection pump timing

Q: What year did Volkswagen stop importing the New Beetle Diesel Turbos?
I know you cannot get them for 2007. I am interested in purchasing a used one but cannot seem to find the last year they were made?

A: You’ll have a difficult time finding one; last of TDI in anything was 2006… and they weren’t sold new in several states due to emissions issues, especially in California. I’m not sure where you reside, but in California where I’m located, the only TDI’s we saw were cars imported from other states, bought mainly on the Web. Because of the demand for them in California (at least), prices were very high and the maintenance costs eat up the savings you have in fuel. All Diesels must use a special synthetic oil approved by VW; its made by Castrol, but we couldn’t get it from the local Castrol distributor; we were forced to buy it from VW (the Castrol oil says approved for Mercedes Benz, Audi, VW and BMW products especially diesel vehicles, regular Castrol Synthetic does not say that on the label). Timing belt replacement is also far more often with the Diesel, fuel filter replacement (none required for gas vehicles), check engine lights were a frequent problem for us on the TDI’s also and until recently, in California at least, diesel fuel was more expensive than premium fuel. You may want to wait until the 2008 models come out, its supposed to be a 50 state car.. (but given the VW history, it probably won’t be out on time!). Hope this helps, a car nut.

Q: I have a 2001 volkswagen beetle. The hood light stays on all the time and a fan stays on.?
It will run down battery if you don’t disconnect fuse @180 on battery fuse box. Please Help!! Its a 1.8 turbo.

A: HI, Those two items are grounded for some reason. They may have pinched wires to ground some where on the car.Try and trace these wires to a place where they meet each other and continue to trace if possible. You may luck out and find the problem.Good Luck

Q: a 4 cylinder turbo manual good?
is a volkswagen beetle 4cylinder turbo that is manual better on gas than an automatic turbo?
i am such a girly girl and i think they are so cute. iv heard people say everything had gone wrong with theirs and some say nothing has gone wrong. i think its how you drive it and take care of it.

A: yes in theory you can get better MPG buy having a manual
it depends on how well you can drive it and how low you can keep the RPMS of the motor as low as possible

but as soon as the turbo spools up and you increase the boost your mpg will drop a desent amount

and dont listen to anyone who hates on the beetle i think they are well made cars that have great engineering made by the germans

hope this helps out

Q: Is a Volkswagen Beetle a chick car?
I’m thinking of buying the 1.8 turbo version. I plan on buying it for performance and putting a nice body kit on it. What do you think of them? Are they a chick car or both a mans car?

A: yes, they are aimed at the female market
but hey if you like it you like it, its YOUR car so you shouldn’t let anyone define your tastes for you.

If you dont like the style, they have the same engine for the bug, the jetta and the golf, so look into the jetta if your looking for a sedan, and look into the golf/rabbit if your looking for a hatcback
They’re ALL great cars, i LOVE vdubs myself.
Me and my jetta are inseperatable, despite the fact that people think its a girl car, you’ll show them off when you pass them at a stop sign and watch them crash in your rearview mirror =D

Q: Can I use E10 gasoline in my 2002 Volkswagen Beetle?
I have a 2002 VW Beetle (standard, not turbo). The instruction manual says to use regular unleaded gasoline only. I would like to use 10% ethanol gasoline for both economic and environmental reasons, though I don’t want to risk damage to my engine. Is there a valid reason for me to be concerned about this? Some people have told me that it wouldn’t hurt, and some said it could do damage. Can anyone give me a straight-forward answer?

A: Yes you can. Many US cities have been selling RFG (reformulated gasoline) since the mid 90’s. RFG is 85-90% RBOB (basically pure gasoline) and 10-15% ethanol. This gives the gasoline 2% oxygen by weight. The fuels companies are also allowed to use MTBE, but the government has removed liability protection and all gasoline companies are now using ethanol. The oxygen helps the gasoline burn cleaner so that those cities can meet EPA Clean Air Act standards. Your car was manufactured to deal with both of those fuels (the MTBE or ethanol), so you will have no issue.

See the link below for RFG info from the EPA. Happy motoring!!

EDIT: If Louis had followed his own links, he’d have found it’s not just about wearout parts, he’d have found this about Flex Fuels in conventional gasoline cars:

http://www.e85fuel.com/e85101/faqs/conversion.php

…there is only one converstion certified by the EPA for FLEET USE ONLY that meet the standards to maintain clean exhaust emissions. Technically speaking, converting a vehicle that was designed to operate on unleaded gasoline only to operate on another form of fuel is a violation of the federal law and the offender may be subject to significant penalties. Flex Fuel U.S. has obtained this conversion system for fleets. More information can be found at http://flexfuelus.com/.

The differences in fuel injector size, air-fuel ratio, PCM calibrations, material composition of the fuel lines, pumps and tanks are just a few of the components that contribute to making an E85 conversion extremely complex. It is our understanding that at least one company is working to obtain EPA certification. We will monitor the situation closely, understanding the certification process can be time consuming, difficult and expensive.

Q: Where is the alternator on a 2004 Beetle?
Where is the alternator found on a 2004 Volkswagen Beetle (2L Engine – non-turbo)?

A: if you don’t see it at the end of the “V” belt then you do not know what one looks like (even if it came out and bit ya. End of Discussion

Q: waterpump and timing belt on a vw beetle turbo…?
I am going to purchase a 1999 vw beetle turbo. The car has been taken care of really well and is a one owner vehicle since it was bought brand new. It has 106,000 miles on it so when I get it Im going to have the timing belt and water pump replaced. If I remember right the mechanic from volkswagen quoted me $687.00 to do both. To me this sounds low since everyone says that vw repairs and maintanence is outrageous so now Im second guessing whether I heard him right. I tell other ppl this price and they said well they are expensive and that sounds high so yeah that sounds right. So If anyone knows if this price sounds right help me out and 10 points to the best answer.

A: Honestly that sounds about right-depending on the mechanic. I recently had those same things replaced on a very different car-on a Ford. The parts were around $150 and then i paid a friend like around $100-150 to put them on for me. So i spent around $300. I imagine if you go to a actual automotive service center it would be twice that amount-thus $600 would be about right.

If i were you though i would try to find a qualified mechanic who does this kind of work at home. You will save allot of money that way.

Q: How many miles do the new Volkswagen Beetles typically last?
I am considering purchasing a used 2000 VW beetle with 100,000 miles on it. The car has been recently refurbished by its one owner, has mostly freeway miles and a turbo engine. Do you think it’s a wise purchase? Or will the thing conk out soon?

A: i had the same delima with a 2002 beetle 2.0 and after taking it to the vw dealer they charge like 40 buck and seeing the matinece record i bought it ive had it about two monts now and have put about 5k on it i love it and if or when it makes it to 250k i will buy a new one great car

Q: How do you take off the stock cd player in a 2002 Toyota Celica GTS?
How do you dissemble the stock cd player in a 2002 Toyota Celica GTS? The cd player doesn’t want to read any disc.

A: dealer or audio shop that does installations. Try cleaning it first. a kit is 25.00 A radio 250.00 At Toyota 600.00 for system

Q: How do you instal a knock sensor on a 2000 Toyota Celica GTS?
How do you instal a knock sensor on a 2000 Toyota Celica GTS?

A: Are you trying to replace a knock sensor? If so, you just unplug, unscrew, and screw the new one in and plug it back up.

If your engine don’t have knock sensors and you are trying to install some, you can’t.

Q: Looking for a used Toyota Celica GTS engine?
I need to find a used 2000′ toyota celica GTS engine. Anyone know a good place to look for one? Thanks!
Under $2000.00 if possible.

A: auto trader is a good place
to start

Craigslist in your area
ebay is another

Q: whats the best exhaust system for a 2000 toyota celica gts?
I have a 2000 toyota celica gts and i want to upgrade the exhaust system on my celica. the problem is that i don’t know what kind of exhaust system i should get? I want to be able to get the most horsepower, aggressive sound out of it. so if anybody is a celica fan and knows about exhaust system please let me know.

A: Get a Corvette exhaust.

Q: Where is the knock sensor on a 2000 Toyota Celica GTS?
Where is the knock sensor located on a 2000 Toyota Celica GTS?

Q: Will IKON gt5 Gunmetal rims fit on a 1994 Toyota Celica GTS ?
Will IKON gt5 Gunmetal rims fit on a 1994 Toyota Celica GTS ?
They were previously on my ACURA RSX.
I’m wondering if it will fit on the drum for the Celica ?
I am trying to sell my rims and a potential buyer would like to know this but I honestly have no idea! Help !

Thanks in advance,

Adam
sorry, 17″ rims !

A: what size rims are they they should fit but you might need to get Wheel spacers

Q: how much to lower a 2000 toyota celica gts?
I have a 2000 toyota celica GTS and I wanna drop it around 2 inches but have no idea what i need! the kits online are around 200 and there springs and struts is that all i need?

A: Yeah pretty much.

But you get what you pay for.

A $200 kit is only going to be lowering springs and poor quality ones at that. They will have poor ride quality and you will be bouncing all over the place.

But it will get you lower lol.

Q: What is the part that provides airflow to the engine on a Toyota Celica GTS 1990?
There is a jimmy-rigged air flow for the engine of my 1990 Toyota Celica GTS. I would like to order the correct parts, but can’t find a parts diagram on the web so I can figure out the right part to order. It’s on the right hand side, going from the engine to the right front of the frame. The connection near the frame is rounded rectangular. I believe the connection to the engine is round, about 5″ diameter. Do you know what the part(s) are that I need to order?
It is a 2.2L engine. The part is the air flow/cold air intake. The current system looks like 5″ x 6″ plumbing fittings linked together. The filter on the end looks like the standard filter.

Can it be cleaned?
Also, is the Mass Airflow Sensor part of this system?

A: If you call to place the order, you can simply give them the make, model, year, and engine size and the description as you listed it here. With this information, they will know exactly what you are referring to.

It is a bit hard to answer this without knowing the engine size. One reason is because the air filter assembly on some foreign cars house the Mass Airflow Sensor. Yours may or may not.

Let the parts dealer tell you because these sensors can be quite expensive. No use wasting money on one based on someone’s incorrect answer here when you do not need it.

Q: Is the fuel pump in the gas tank on a 1990 toyota celica gts?
I have to replace the fuel tank on my 90 celica gts but i want to know if the pump is in the tank because that will contribute to cost. Anyone know?

A: If the engine is fuel injected as I believe it is, the fuel pump is in the gas tank.

Q: Can any one help me find a New 2005 Toyota Celica GTS near or in VA?
I’ve been looking for a New 2005 Toyota Celica GTS for a while and im geting despirate. (If you can give me web site that have it i’ll appriciate it)

A: Carmax there is 2 in Richmond and 1 in VA beach or Ebay

Q: Do you think these rims would look nice on a silver toyota celica gts?
heres the rims..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS…

heres a toyota celica gts..

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co…

i think it is way better than the rims that are on there now.

A: The links dont work.

Q: How much to install a turbo on a 2000 Toyota Celica GTS?
Kinda just a rough ballpark for my own information if anyone could help. Probably a huge range of prices for such a cheap car but i just want to get a general idea

A: the cheapest kit is about 3000 from turbokits.com. the better kit is from monkeywrenchracing.com but thats about 4500 with out fuel system upgrades or ecu upgrades. those are just for the kits if you can install it you will save a few hundred bucks. then u will need to get it tuned a shop close to me charges about 100 bucks a hour to do tuning. your probably looking at 5000 plus when all is done.

Q: PCV or positive crankcase ventilation on a 1986 toyota celica GTS?
I cant find where the PCV is on my car could anyone tell me or better yet show me a photo please it needs to be replaced.

A: IT should b next 2 the distributor on a hose running Vertical next 2 the engine block, its the same color as the hose & in inline with the hose so it looks like a connector of 2 hose instead of a pcv. That would b the drivers side. Front side of the Distributor.

Q: When i try to accelerate on my Toyota Celica gts the rpm drops as if it wants to die.?
I know it is not a clutch/transmission problem because it happens even with the car not in gear. So basically when i press the gas to slightly rev up the engine, the rpm drops below 1k and the car shakes as if its about to die then eventually accelerates but sluggish.

What could be causing this? Is something clogged? Fuel pump? Catalytic Converter?

A: Sounds like the timing on the computer, could be a clogged fuel line or a hole in the transmission.

Q: How can i make my 2001 toyota celica GTS look even better than it does factory? ?
I want to put a lot of upgrades on it such as lambo doors, blacklights replacing my lights inside my car, glowing pedals and gauges, lowering springs, and neon lights under my car. I need help on other ideas to go along with what I am contemplating putting on my car.

A: Well first of all, I hope it’s not all show and no go.

Second of all, I myself am a car designer, so feel free to add me to msn @:

stevenneill504@hotmail.com

I designed the bodykit for the worlds fastest Nissan Skyline owned by RIPS Racing New Zealand.

I’d recommend sprucing up that 2ZZ-GE before the body, but here’s some suggestions:

Carbon Hood, Carbon Spoiler, Carbon lip kit, Racing Wheels, Wheel arches, JDM Carbon Mirrors.

Q: What is the better car, an Lancer Evo or Subaru WRX STi?
2003 Lancer Evo? or 2004 Subaru Wrx STi?

3 main points I would like covered in your answer…
Which one is more reliable? Which has better handling?
Which has more car for the money(which is a better deal for the amount of awesome-ness)

and also just give me some personal thoughts… thanks.

A: i have a friend that has a WRX STi, he’s had his for a few years, and he has had no problems with it. Im not sure about the Evo. The WRX STi has awesome handling…Im pretty sure the Evo has good handling as well…i think the WRX STi puts out more hp and torque than the Evo too…sorry i just dont have much info about the Evo lol. I drive a 04 Eclipse that im selling and a Neon SRT-4, which is pretty much a competitor of the Evo and WRX haha. But yeah, i would go with the WRX STi…the Evo just looks weird to me too>>>> goodluck

Q: How do you check gearbox and clutch in a 1996 Subaru Wrx Sti?
Im looking to buy a 1996 Impreza WRX STi done 115,000kms.
It is completely stock/standard.

What can I do to check the clutch and gearbox, as they are problems at this mileage.

Any other things to check before spending the $$$

A: Test drive, make sure the gear shift is not grinding at any point. Make sure the differential/gear box fluid is not dark brown (dark brown = something is burning/overheating badly).

The Clutch may need to adjust/replace at that kms, but if you can step half way to the clutch and shift without problems, the clutch may be still good as new.

Q: I have finally saved 30k!! =) Now i can get my Subaru Wrx or Subaru WRX Sti?? Which one?
I am only 17 years old, but after many hours of working and saving, i finally saved 30k to get my dream car. Which one should i get, a Subaru WRX or a Subaru STI?

I am defintely sure i want this car. I dont wanna save my money, i just want my dream car….=))

A: You should check with your parents’ insurance company before you decide to buy either one. Find out how much it’s going to affect their rates yearly. You can’t get your own insurance until you’re 18. And you can’t buy a car until you’re 18 since you can’t sign any legal documents until then. So your parents will have to buy it and insure it for you.

I commend you for saving up so much money at your age. Very few teens could do what you did. But spend it wisely. Check with your parents’ insurance. And be sure you can pay for the maintenance and upkeep too before you jump into a purchase.

One other thing, a car is a losing proposition. It takes a beating the moment you drive it off the lot. And it continues to lose value every three months after that. Within 3 years, your $30,000 investment will only be worth about $12,000. You’ve just thrown $18,000 away. Money you worked hard for.

If you were to invest that money in bonds, CD accounts or T-bills you’d have more than enough cash in a few short years to buy your new car and still have enough money left over to reinvest and make you well off by the time you’re 30. Just something to think about.

Q: What makes the very distinct sound of the Subaru WRX STi?
I have a VW Passat 2.0T but I love the sound of the the WRX STi and was wondering if it is the muffler or the turbo or what ever makes the unique sound of the STi.

A: To be more specific, the sound comes from the horizontally opposed 4 cylinder, or H-4, or pancake motor. The engine’s pistons are directionally opposed at 54 degrees. That is what gives the engine the loping sound, however it is also in addition to unequal length header piping to the turbo. If you put straight back headers on a Subaru with a 3″ back pipe you will notice it sounds more like a Honda…
Flat four + Unequal length headers = Rumble

Q: If price is not an issue, can one still find a 2007 subaru wrx sti sedan with no miles on it/brand new?
I am looking to buy a new car and i really want a 2007 wrx sti sedan, however, i want it brand new or no miles on it. Is that at all possible to find?

A: Once a car is sold it is technically used, regardless of miles. 2007 is a bit too old for a car lot to have and being sold as “new”. You will just have to be very diligent in your search for an extremely low mileage ‘07.
Good luck.

Q: How of you think The Subaru WRX STi is the most over rated Car in the world?
I think the Evo 9 is better hands down.

Besides Subaru cheated and made it a 2.5 litre.
Thats not rally specs.

A: I LOVE my EVO 8 MR and I eat sti’s for breakfast… and they run slower in the 1/4 mile by almost a second and a half and run slower in a 6 turn course by almost 2 minutes.. they where compared on car and drive and the evo 8 and 9 won hands down

Q: What type of performance modifications should I get for my Subaru WRX STI?
Also what is the price for the modifications?

I’m planning on getting a 2003-05 STI.

A: Cobb AP or Tactrix cableand open ECU flash to stage 1. TBE, gutted or after market UP, flash to stage 2. RAI or CAI then get a protune.

AP: 400+ used and unmarried
or Tactrix cable: 100 (you will need a laptop though)

For the rest it varies quite a bit anywhere from cheap ebay stuff, to expensive and hella expensive for quality like Cobb or actual SPT stuff.

Best thing to do is research though, the EJ20 doesn’t like to have random stuff thrown on without a tune or EM, and even if you did do a DP and CBE you won’t see much gain without a reflash anyways, difference between the two is like night and day.

Q: What is the difference between the Subaru Impreza WRX STI and the Subaru WRX STI SE?
I am extremely into cars and want to the the exact differences between these two. I am more into the special edition but it has a lower price than the STI. Thanks

A: The se is actually a Spec C and is a trimmed down STI. the Spec C came from the asian market and is much sought after. The main reason subaru added the Spec C is to reduce cost and weight. STI enthusiasts said the STI was getting too fancy so they got rid of the 6 cd changer for just a single cd, automatic climate control for manual climate, lighter 18” rims and no HIDs. It is 2 grand cheaper but still has the same 305 HP and 290 pounds of torque. Has the same engine and turbo but lighter weight and a bit faster and more of a true rally car.

Q: What are the killawats to the 02,03,05,06,07 subaru wrx sti?
i want to buy a wrx sti so i know which car is the fastest so i don’t need to buy performance parts later on?

A: Just look on edmunds.com or some similar site…

It’s pretty easy to do an internet search instead of asking, much faster too!!!

AND to just cut to the heart of your question, the 07 has the most power.

Q: Can i install a blow valve in a stock subaru wrx sti?
It’s a 2007 wrx sti.I already have installed injen intake(cold air), hks carbon ti exhaust, and high flow cats

A: Well the Sti already has a blow off valve So why would you want to intall another?/?

Yes you can replace it with After market one which will probably be of a lesser quality but It will not add any performance so why?? If your looking for the noise you can simply divert the air from recirculating to the intake, plug the intake and the vent the BOV to atmosphere.

Edit; Venting to atmosphere will not produce any loss of power or any change in the vehicles tune. The bov is only open when there is vacume after the buterflys and boost before them. (off throttle or durring spool depending how stiff the spring is.) durring this time the engine is either in F/C and not producing any power or it is just starting to spool in either case the recirculated pressure is in no way adding any kind of relevent pressure to the pre turbo intake track beacause the volume of air being realeased through the BOV is very small when compared to the size of the intake which is wide open to atmosphere via the air filter.

edit again; bypass valve is just another name for a BOV they are the same they both have preload spring and they both have a vacume port! and again Venting to atmospere should not affect tune because when its open you are off the gas which means the ECU is in fuel cut! and even if it wasn’t it doesn’t matter because the bypass valve just recirc’s the air back into the pre-turbo intake which is not sealed to atmosphere it does not in anyway pressurize the pre turbo intake.

Q: How can you tell if a Subaru WRX STI is really a WRX STI?
My boyfriend has bought an early Scoobie – finally realising a long-held ambition, we thought! A mechanic has told him it’s not a real STI as they all have red manifolds. This car hasn’t BUT it is an early model. Anyone know how else to tell if it’s real please?

A: The easiest way is to run a check on the VIN through http://www.carfax.com/cfm/general_check.cfm?partner=OCF_1&CMP=KNC-Overture&ysmwa=Ml2OCB7mtRYvXdKxNKuqhqsdlYEY6eCDbYasInfDakYEJQSEHRHgXSALx9CR-t1U
There is no fee for this it will give you the specs of the car. The STI was available in N. America from 2003 to present. It has a hood scope for the intercooler and a really big spoiler on the back plus it has STI decals and lether wrapperd steering wheel and a six speed manual transmission.

Q: I own an 07 Subaru WRX STI. What is a good company to use when i start to modify it?? ?
Companies on the west coast. I live in Las Vegas.

A: I envy you…lol. Back to the answer. There are many good companies’ products you can use to modify your STI, eg:

Cobb: For your exhaust and ‘tuning’ needs
Perrin, Whiteline: Suspension aspects
Hella: For exterior stuff/ lighting
Defi: For your gauge needs
Kart boy: Short shifters, interior decoration
Borla: Exhausts performance
These are just a few example reputable companies. You can also look around WRX/ STI forums if you’d like to see a product’s quality and feedback. Try looking up Nasioc, WRXmodders, IWSTI, Clubwrx.

Hope that helps.

Edit: Okay, didn’t read that you were west coast. Cobb is west coast (utah), so is perrin, kartboy and Borla (CA).

Q: Is it a bad idea to buy a used Subaru WrX Sti?
I want to trade my ‘98 Impreza outback sport in for an sti. i cant afford a new one so i was thinking used. My ex said its an awful idea because of the turbo being beat on by the previous owner. is he right? or are there other factors to consider?

A: He is right.

But, turbo’s usually last 60,000 miles anyways. And Subaru’s are very reliable cars.

To take care of a turbo, wait 45 seconds before turning the car off to let the turbo cool down.
Use Premium gas only. That is required.
Used the recommended oil for the car.

Turbo’s cost anywhere from $1000-2000 to replace.
Or $200-400 to rebuild/refurbish.

Q: How do I make my Subaru WRX STi cheaply faster and at what cost total?
Any certain brands (with prices would be nice) that could put on this car to make it faster

A: Subaru has done a great job of engineering your car. There is nothing you can do “cheaply” to make it faster. Any upgrade worth the time and money will be costly and requires a very knowledgeable hand, which may well be costlier than the pieces parts.

What do you mean by “faster?” If you’re looking for straight line acceleration, sell the great car you’ve got and buy an overdone engine on wheels. Then you’ll have no need to worry about suspension, brakes, etc. If you wanted a “dragster,” why did you buy a real automobile?

If you’re looking for capability on a road course, a track, please tell us how much experience you’ve got. Unless you’ve got a lot, you’re probably unable to drive anywhere near the limits of your STI. For a lot less money than turning your car into a big, dumb engine, you can work on the weak link in the system — you. Get out and run in autocrosses, HPDE (High Performance Driver Education events), etc. Instruction is often included in these for free or little money. If you can drive your STI at its limits on a road course, then it’s time to think of modifying the car.

Q: what does STI mean in subaru wrx STI?
hello guys. i was thinking about buying a car.the car is a 2005 subaru impreza wrx awd.ther is also a subaru impreza wrx STI. can someone tell me what STI means?also am i allowed to dirve the STI model on my Provisional 1 license.thats is my red P’s of course.thank you in advance.

A: Subaru Tecnica International is what STI stands for. The STI is Subaru’s line for high performance equipment in the car. The WRX and WRX sti are much different due to the STI having more performance parts that the dealer could go over with. Different suspension, tires, brakes, and a whole lot more. All Subarus will also be awd. Good luck. You should be able to drive the car because it is within the same class. You will probably have to know how drive a stick shift though (manual).

Looking for a mitsubishi eclipse? Try the top automotive resource Import-Heaven.net

Q: what do i need to to a manual tranny swap into an automatic mitsubishi eclipse gsx?
I’m buying a 1998 mitsubishi eclipse gsx project car. it has auto tranny as it sits now. im wondering what i need to have make a auto to manual tranny swap possible.

A: Transmission, transfercase, clutch master cylinder & lines, pedals, shifter & cables, rear differential (different gear ratios for auto & manual). If you get a 95-96 tranny, get a 91-96 transfercase; If you get a 97-99 tranny, get a 97-99 transfercase. The front differential & transfercase have different gear ratios. The transfercase bolts up differently to the auto & manual trannies. Get a good clutch & pressure plate right away so you don’t have to do it when the clutch goes out from a couple hard takeoffs.

Get a good transmission from Shep, TRE, or Jacks Trans. Don’t make the same mistake as I did getting a ‘cheap’ one, those aren’t so cheap anyways and will be trouble.

Q: Will I have to tune a used mitsubishi eclipse gsx turbo when I buy it?
I am buying a mitsubishi eclipse gsx at the end of the week and i was really wondering if i have to do any sort of tuning to the turbo? Would it be a good idea if i did and brought it to a dyno?

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.deep-ice.com

Q: How many Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX models were made in 1998?
How many Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX (AWD Turbo) models were made in 1998.

Also, how many with the following features:
magenta pearl paint
black leather interior

(If you cannot find color and interior, if you can just find the number of 1998 GSX eclipses and/or GSX in general)

Thank you

A: GSX production was less than 5% of the total number.

Q: Where can I learn everything I need to about Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX?
I’m looking into buying a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. I really need a site that gives all of the information for this car and pictures of the car and engine would be appreciated as well.

A: dsmtuners.com its a whole forum about your car. i have a gst. and also go buy a chiltons book about your car its great and basically will tell u every little thing about your car. goodluck with it

Q: How reliable is the 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX Turbo?
I recently had an offer for a
1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX Turbo
5 Speed Automatic Transmission
4 cylinder
70-75 thousand miles
Price:$5500

I wanted to know if this car has high maintenance.
Will i have to keep repairing it?
Is it reliable for a teen who doesn’t want to spend money on repairs all the time?
Will it break easily?

Thank you

A: Mitsubishi car maintenance fee is quite high because you will found that the problem will re-occur once it happen once.

If you plan to drive for short term, then you can consider this car. The break is Good enough.

Q: What is the front/rear wheel power in a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX AWD?
In a GMC Syclone there is around 65% power to the rear wheels and 35% to the front wheels. Is the Mitsubishi eclipse the same, or just 50 50?

A: 50/50

Q: How can I turn my Mitsubishi Eclipse GST FWD to a Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX AWD?
I live in Garden City, KS and I cant find any GSX’s for sale anywhere so im trying to turn my GST to a GSX cuz I want AWD.

A: you wont get far without a donor gsx so if you cant even find one, give up dreaming. after you do get one, youll need to change the flywheel tranny drivetrain gas tank downpipe and propbably minor things. there will be fabricating and welding. if you dont absolutely need awd, it wont be worth the trouble.

Q: where can i find an 1996-1999 mitsubishi eclipse gsx that has a blown motor? or bad trans? or?
where can i find an 1996-1999 mitsubishi eclipse gsx that has a blown motor? or bad trans? — the thing is i have a 1998 camaro and i want to sell it for 2700-3000$ and buy a gsx that has some probs and make it a street/strip car need help

A: www.dsmtrader.com www.dsmtuners.com You need to register first but you can search cars by zipcode.

Q: Whats the module thats under the passenger seat of a 95-99 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX?
Found a module under the seat of my 95 Eclipse GSX that i dont know what it is, i know the ECU is under the cd deck, i wanted to know if it was something important.

A: That maybe the audio amplifier. I had mine taken out when I upgraded my audio system.

Q: What is the difference between a Mitsubishi Eclipse Gsx or a gst?
Buying a car and i want to kno which one is better for me.

A: gsx = all wheel drive gst = front wheel drive. both are turbo, use the 4g63 engine. the gsx is the faster car off the line due to it not having traction issues. the gst is faster from a roll due to it being lighter. but with a few mods the gsx is faster than most cars. if you are going for anything higher than 350 to 400 hp then go with the gsx if less than 350 get the gst.

Q: Do Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX brake down easily? And if so what are the Costs?
I am looking at an 97′ Eclipse GSX and was wondering that since it is a older car will I have many problems? Would the engine need to be replaced if it has a high number of KM or Miles? What additional things might I have to replace and what might it cost?

A: Jase really doesn’t know what he’s talking about. The crankwalk issue he mentioned affected mostly the 95-97 model years. 98+ got a revised thrust bearing that helped alleviate the problem. It has nothing to do with long trips making lower than normal oil pressure. It DOES have something to do with the crank able to move (aka walk) within the bearings of the engine block. Most DSM’s didn’t get affected by it; some did and it ruined the reputation of the car’s reliability. My original engine (95 GSX) went 150k miles before I had a race engine built for it. Even at 150k it was still running strong because I took good care of it.

Q: 97 GSX Eclipse Mitsubishi rear rotor bolt size?
I need to take off the rear rotors from my 97 Eclipse GSX Mitsubishi. There is a bolt directly in the center of the rotors that is larger than one inch, does someone know the size, either metric or standard?

A: You don’t have to.

Q: white mitsubishi eclipse gsx bad transmission pricing?
my 1997 mitsubishi eclipse gsx 2.4l automatic has black rims about $400 for all four lambo doors and tinted windows. perfect interior and decent exterior and a shot tranny (transmission is dead) how much do you think i could get for this?

A: How do you have a 2.4 motor? Is it a stroker cause they only come in 2.0. Tranny will definitely take your price down big time. If they can’t drive it away, that leaves it only to the guys that want to wrench on it and they’re not the ones that go around looking for expensive cars. The shoddy exterior and Lambo doors aren’t going to help either. Just because it cost money to install doesn’t mean it raises the value. Expect to be lowballed around 1000-2000 dollars. I think you’d be lucky getting 3k in the condition it’s in.

Q: Where is the fuel pump and fuel pump relay located on a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX?
My car broke down on me while driving, everything else seems to be working, all the blets, baterry, alternator, its come to my conclusion that it might have something to do with my furl pump/relay. Help.

A: Bang on the bottom of the gas tank at the same time someone else tries to start the car. If the fuel pump is failing that may get it running long enough to make it to a shop. You check the timing belt and timing marks? I’ve seen plenty of jumped belts and bent intake valves. Got any compression when you crank the motor over?

Q: How to replace crank seal on 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX?
front crank seal is leaking really bad. how much do you think a shop would charge to fix this? how many hours? any miracle fix that might work even temporarily?
the timing belt, tensioner, plugs, wires, coil, and clutch were just replaced.

A: When the timing belt was done the cam seals and crankshaft seals should have been inspected and replaced if leaking. I have not seen many front crankshaft seals leak so make sure you double check the cam seals before doing all the timing belt work over again.

Q: How much is car insurance on a new 911 gt2 Porsche?
I am a 25 year old who recently became very successful in the automotive industry and I decided I wanted to get a Porsche. Now i know about how much it is to keep a Porsche maintained because i have worked on them but i am not sure on the insurance. Please help anyway you can. And for the record i am not getting a quote from any website because i do not feel comfortable giving away personal information to an insurance company before i decide to use them.

A: It will cost you $274.37 a month.

Q: Does the Porsche 911 GT2 have back seats?
Most 911 models have back seats,I am wondering if the GT2 does?

A: There are no rear seats in the GT2. The space back there is just carpeted. While regular 911’s tiny “jump seats” are viable for children IF the front seat passengers put their seats forward enough to allow the kids to have legs, I wouldn’t take anyone very far that way. A car magazine once said about the 911’s rear seats that “They are suitable only for the punishment of small children.”

The rear seat backs do fold down and make a satisfactory shelf for luggage though.

Q: Music played in top gear episode with Top Gear Lamborghini Gallardo Lp560-4 vs Porsche 911 Gt2?
It is a piano piece which is played as Jeremy describes the lamborghini, within the first 10 minutes of the episode.

A: Try rewatching it on the show’s website, or catch a rerun of it.
Google the lyrics and you should be able to find the music

Q: Difference Between Porsche 911 Carrera, 911 Targa and the difference between the Porsche GT2 and GT3??
I see them all the time but I have been wondering for the longest time what is the difference between the Carrera and the Targa? Also what is the difference between the GT2 and the GT3. Please do not just give me engine spec’s…I can look that up myself.

GT3 and GT2, are they different racing classes? The GT3 has a lower HP rating than the GT2 but everyone talks about the GT3. Why??

A: The Carrera name was originally used for the highest performance versions of cars from Porsche, with the name coming from the Carrera Panamerica race. In the early 1980s, Porsche began using the name for all 911 models, and it has been more or less synonymous with them since.

The Targa was introduced in the mid 1960s, shortly after the 911 Coupe. The original Targa was essentially the convertible version of the 911, featuring a removing roof (what has since become known on all cars as a Targa top), and a fold down plastic rear window. A roll bar remained (due to structural requirements, the Targa design worked better than a straight out convertible). A few years later the Targa replaced the fold down plastic window with a fixed glass window, making it less a convertible and more of what most people recognize as a “Targa.”

The Targa went through another evolution in the late 1990s, when the design was changed to feature a retractable top, married to sides that appeared the same as the Carrera Coupe. Overall, the Targa has been similar to the Coupe, though due to it’s nature it is a little bit heavier and has less structural rigidity (though this are fairly small differences in the most recent versions). The Targa name also derives from a race (the Targa Florio).

The GT2 and GT3 are what would have been called Carreras by older Porsche naming standards, in they are the premium performance models based on current cars. In the late 90s, when both were first introduced, the GT2 was aimed as a car that could be homologated for competition into the GT2 class, and the GT3 aimed at the GT3 class… which led to their names (though current classing no longer matches the names, and the Porsche GT1 is now long out of production).

The GT2 features a turbo charged engine where the GT3 is normally aspirated. The current GT3 (997) was introduced before the current GT2, and the previous (996) version received some updates that took longer to reach the former version of the GT2. These are two major factors why many look at the GT3 more fondly than the GT2. Additionally there is heritage, while the GT3 seems a direct descendant to the early Carreras, and cars like the 911R, 911RS, 993RS, the GT2 seems a little less relevant (with only the 934 and Turbo RSRs of the mid 1970s as earlier reference). The GT3 is also available in RS trim – for practical purposes, this allows Porsche to have the most suitable car to homologate the current GT Class race car (GT3 RSR), but it also produces a car which is a good match to the GT2 even with much less power. The GT3 is the basis for current production based racing… and in terms of ownership, a normally aspirated engine is less expensive to own than a turbo charged car.

The GT2 is a fantastic car, and clearly the top of the heap among Porsches current offerings, but for all of the above reasons… as well as the price tag difference (the GT3 offering not that much of a drop in performance for quite a bit less of impact on the wallet), many will focus on the GT3 over then GT2.

Q: has anyone seen the brand new porsche 911 gt2 rs?
if so does it kick the corvette zr-1’s butt?

A: The GT2 RS is tiptoeing the line of insanity in steel toed construction boots. On a flying lap, just judging by the Top Gear Power Board, the standard GT2 already beats the ZR1, so the GT2 RS would smash it. In fact, the 911 GT3 RS 996 (the less powerful model of a few years ago) is only a touch behind, with a 1:22.3 vs the ZR1s 1:20.4.

Q: Ferrari F430 Scuderia, Lamborghini Gallardo LP-560-4, Porsche 911 GT2, Corvette Z06, Audi R8, Nissan GT-R….?
Porsche 911 GT3, Dodge Viper SRT-10, BMW M3, Corvette ZR1, Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR, or Porsche 911 Turbo? Which one of those sports car would you have? (only one from that specific list)

A: GT-R a def from your list.

Q: How does the PORSCHE 911 gt2 rs have 650hp?

A: It’s called, “Porsche Magic”.
Of course, there is a reasonable explanation.
It has a 3.6 liter, horizontally opposed, six cylinder engine with twin turbochargers. These turbochargers also boast having “Variable Turbine Geometry,” which basically means the car experiences virtually no lag in the boost created by the turbos.
Besides that, all that is left are things like titanium con-rods and stuff like that. Essentially, the only difference in this engine compared to the regular GT2 is the increase in boost pressure.

Q: how to tune the porsche 911 gt2 for drift?

A: Grow up. The GT2 is a street legal track car…not a car for drifting. Christ.

Q: NFS porsche 911 GT2 RS?!?
Where the hell is this thing? i can only see the porsche 911 GT3 RS i looked under all fields of cars

A: you need to buy it from the shop, i think its under exotic

Q: Porsche 911 GT2 or Lamborghini Gallardo?
Imagine that you have the cash, they both go for around 200K, what would you rather get? why?

A: …the blue one… I like blue.

Q: Audi R8, Ferrari F430 Schuderia, Porsche 911 GT2 (997), Nissan GT-R, or Corvette ZR1?
which one would win in an ultimate test at the Nurburgring? I am pulling for the ZR1

A: I would say the Nissan GT-R, since it was engineered to compete with those cars.

Q: Is the Porsche 911 GT2 street legal in the U.S.?
Does it have the necessary equipment to pass a safety and emissions inspection?

A: Yes, it does…sweet ride, eh?

Q: Porsche 911 GT2 vs Corvette Z06?
on a straight line qtr mile or any road course…

A: The Vette Z06 is better in the long run but the Porsche is quicker off the mark by alittle…overall the Vette is the Best bang for your Buck and has superior handling and performance besides its much cheaper to maintain than the Porsche too!! If money is no limit then get both for best results….Brrrooommmm…brmmmmm!!!

Q: Audi R8 vs Porsche 911 GT2?
I’m currently thinking in buying one, but which one is better and which is faster?

A: the GT2 more powerful version from the 911 turbo. Its way faster on straight way. Its hard to control if you don’t how to drive.

R8 has pure quality and handling, more pleasure to drive with. And the car looks better.

And just 911 turbo would cost more than R8. Unless you want to wait for the new R8 V10 model witch coming out this year I think. Or wait another two or three for V12 TDI. If they are comming out.

but test drive it yourself. See whats suits you best.

Q: how much does a porsche gt2 911 cost?

A: The GT2 is not in production at the moment, so pricing is largely a matter of how much the market can support. The original list price was about $180k as I recall… however, once the GT3 was introduced in the US, sales on the GT2 dropped so much that many dealers I know of were selling the GT2 for the same, or even a bit less than the GT3.

With the new 997 GT3 out, I’d expect that would also force used GT2 prices down, though probably still hoovering right around the $100k area. At some point, there will probably be a 997 based GT2, and that will be back in the price range of the earlier GT2s (and will also likely drive the 996 GT2 a little lower).

Q: where can i find a used honda prelude?

A: Craigslist, a dealer, want ad, e-bay, autotrader, a junk yard…the list goes on, it’s kinda common sense

Q: Should I buy a used Honda Prelude, Del Sol, or Civic?
All are used and around the same price.

A: BUY THE CIVIC….THE BEST YOU CAN GET FOR THE MONEY!!!

Q: Have 5k. Used Honda Prelude or New Car (Like Ford Focus)? Looking For Reliability?

A: My neighbor just spent 650$ to fix his Focus’ ignition switch (a
common problem with Focus) and still hasn’t got the car back (it
still won’t run). Look at the Consumer Reports April edition for the survey results of subscribers who have reported problems with their cars. They also show a grouping of most reliable cars
by several $ amounts (2000, 5000, 10000) . Each grouping has
several cars which have proven reliability records.

Q: Does a 1994 honda prelude use shocks or struts?
I was just wondering if the 1994 Honda Prelude Si uses shocks or struts for its suspension? And what is the difference between them both?

A: The real difference is that a shock has a pivot at each end, while a strut has a pivot at the top while the lower end is bolted solidly to the spindle where the wheel attaches. A Prelude uses a type of coil-over shock – the parts are shocks, not true struts, but they have a coil spring around the shock. (They’re not the same thing as an adjustable coil-over, though.)

Q: What oil viscosity should be used in a high mileage 1998 Honda Prelude?
The owners manual recommends 5W30. However, a mechanic that has worked on it for several years recommends 10W30 and even 10W40 for the summer because of its high engine wear at 112k miles and use at high RPMs. I’m using 10W30, and most people I ask say that 10W40 is just way too thick.

A: 10/40 isn’t too thick , you could go with straight 30 with no problem .

Q: Is this a good deal for a 2000 Honda Prelude?
I do not know much about cars but I am planning to buy a used 2000 honda prelude. It has a clean title, 147k, silver, automatic for $5600. my uncle came with me to look at it and he said it was a good deal but the mileage seemed high to me. it is under KBB but I am still unsure.. this is my first car. please help!

A: Honda’s have a high resale value because the will go forever. I had a 1995 Accord EX that I totalled over 2 years ago. In it’s wrecked condition and 139k, I got $5500 from my insurance company for it. The car was 10 years old AND demolished.
It may seem like a lot, but if it has been taken care of, it’ll be well worth it.

Q: Purchasing of a used car (Honda Prelude)?
Hi, i am purchasing a vechical, a Honda Prelude 1993, it has done 217,000 km on the clock, is that alot? they want 6,000 for the car, it is in good condition, and i am going to gget it cheacked out by a mecanic, i just want some opitons first, it is my first car, i just dont want it to break down on me, also because it is an import will it cost me alot to repair? what is the average lifespam of a honda engine??

A: For it’s age, that’s not a surprising amount of mileage. However, 217K is still very high for a car you are about to purchase. Talk to your mechanic to see what (s)he thinks about the car. And if it helps, I drive a 1989 Honda Accord with 266K! It still runs and usually costs $600 or less in repairs each year. Not bad since 600 doesn’t even cover 2 new car payments for most cars!

Q: What kind of gas does a 1997 Honda Prelude use?
I was looking to buy a 1997 honda prelude and everyone says their great but some people said you HAVE to put premium gas in it, is this true or is it just a good idea to do this?

A: Okay no, wrong answers so far.

I own a 98 Honda prelude and i am in a Honda prelude club, with all Prelude’s from 97-2001. You have to put premium in it. Trust me you do, its written all over the car for a reason. I remember one guy in our club tried putting 87 octane in it and it didn’t sound good at all. You have to put premium in it, believe me i would love it if it would run off regular 87 with the prices, but if you buy the Prelude you gotta put premium cause the H22 engine in it needs 91+ octane to operate without damaging it. I tried putting 89 octane in it once, and it didn’t sound good, it drove funny, put some octane booster in it cause i was afraid of driving it around like that and it worked fine again. Stick to premium if you buy the 97-01 prelude.

Another tip, if you’re buying the prelude for gas mileage, its not your car. lol Most people in the prelude owners club get about 300 miles on about 12 gallons of premium. Since gas has gone up, a lot of owners have actually sold their prelude’s too! So think about that as well if your in the market of one!

Q: 92 Honda Prelude,How much would it cost for new and used for the computer that runs the 4 wheel steering ?
I have a chance to buy a 92 prelude that is in top shape with leather for $800 but it needs a motor, the 4 wheels steering computer and a front bumper. It has great wheels and tires, after market front lights and an intake system also.I will have to pay to have it installed too. Is it worth it?

A: no not eSuck.com, let me understand this fully you want an engine swap due to the car you buying is dead. Well you can purchase one for $1000 ship to your door at hmotorsonline.com, labor $400-800 is the ecu coming the 4WS arent good for racing GL

Q: looking for honda prelude 1991 used parts?
got this car need one wheel 14″ and one left back rear tail light lens and not sure if I can get them in San Diego or any one knows car parts junk yard in san diego?

A: Try car-part.com. They can probably hook you up. The truth is that new lenses are on a par with used ones.

Q: What import car is faster than a honda Prelude type SH? That generally isnt above $10,000 used?
I have a friend with a 99 Prelude SH. Naturally, I want to one up him lol. I’m looking to get a Import car, that performance wise is better than the lude’ SH. My price range is 10,000 just for the car not including any mods or anything.Any suggestions?

A: I recommend a Mitsubishi 3000GT vr4. You might be able to find a Subaru WRX for $10k. The Eclipse GST has 210hp and better torque than the Honda. Integra type R has 200hp or a Nissan 300zx turbo (91 – 95) over 200hp but hard to find. A Jetta 1.8t with $500 chip is 200 hp 200lb torque.

Q: could a 1988 5 speed manual honda prelude gearbox be used in a 1992 honda prelude?
the gearbox is out of a 88 prelude b20a motor

A: just a wild guess but I would be inclined to say no it won’t fit. You don’t say if 92 is auto or manual but given the time between the 2 models lots of things would have changed. Best bet is to ring your local mechanic or gearbox shop.

Q: i drive a 92 honda prelude and just put in a used dash assembly as my speedometer went. Now when i turn my?
lights on, the top of the speedometer(between 80 and 140kph) is really dim and can barely see it, but some of the time it’s okay and as bright as the rest, any idea what could cause this or how i can fix it?

A: It sounds like a bad connection with the bulb pin and ground.Try removing the dash again and check all of the bulbs to make sure they are all making good contact with the circuit board.

Q: Where are 2000 Honda Prelude VIN numbers located?
I’m looking to buy a used 2000 Honda Prelude soon, and was wondering where the VIN number labels were located, besides on the inside of the door, and on the trunk and on the top of fenders underneath the hood. Is there one on the frame near the radiator or under the hood anywhere? Just want to make sure all the parts are legit.

Thanks for the help

A: i think there may be one stamped on the radiator support, possibly.

vin should be on the transmission too (similar to this):

http://demians.net/civic/B18C5vin.jpg

there is one on the firewall as well:

http://www.hondapartsnow.com/images/honda-vin-locations.jpg

vin stickers on fenders/bumper/trunk

http://www.thetaoofmakingmoney.com/wp-content/uploads/images/vin-numbers.jpg

some dealers, etched the vin number on the glass, like this:

http://www.canisius.edu/images/userImages/creans/Page_10171/ps_vinetch3.jpg

how to check if its the original engine?

all preludes for the US were the H22A4 engines, the number under neath the engine code stamp on the motor has a serial number (not the vin, but serial number of the engine), H22A4 was introduced in america in the 1997 prelude so preludes in 1997 serial number started with 1, 98 =2 99=3 00=4 and 01(last year) = 5.

like this but this pic is a H22A (japanese spec, yours will just say H22A4 US spec)

http://users.4×4wh.com/4×4master/Hondar/Rebuild/B4.jpg

Q: What is “Honda Slap Stick” technology in a 1998 Prelude?
Ok so I’m looking at buying a used 1998 Honda Prelude with the H22A4 motor in it. It’s an automatic and it has “slap stick shifting” technology???? Can someone explain what it is and how it works? THANKS!

A: It refers to the Tiptronic transmission in the car.

Tiptronic offers you two ways to drive the car. You have the choice of just cruising around town in auto mode, or slapping the stick over to the side and drive it like a manual, changing gears without lifting the throttle

Hope that helps

Looking for a rx-8? Try the top automotive resource Import-Heaven.net

Q: Can the Mazda RX-8 be a family car? Will a car seat fit into the one of the rear bucket seats?
We currently own a Mazda 3, me, my wife, and our little daugher that just turned 1, but we want something a little more sporty!
Well i couldn’t resist it, a 2004 Mazda RX-8 Grand Touring with 5200 miles for $19,626. This car is loaded with every option except navigation, original sticker of $31K
Yea, I bought the car a few days ago, im going to pick it up tomorrow! It is a Grand Touring model so its got every option except the Navigation system.

A: It can be a family car if you only have two children. For a coupe, the back seat is roomy.

Q: Do you have to upgrade your Mazda RX 8 Starter?
I commonly see concerns over weak starters in early model RX8’s and wasn’t sure if I should just replace mine as a preventative step. Do all early model RX8’s eventually need an upgraded starter? My current one cranks a little slower then I’m used to, but is that okay to deal with?

A: I would contact your local dealership and have them check to see if your car a a recall or some thing like that because allot of them do and as far as just a preventative step it wouldn’t hurt to get a another starter just as long as you get it from a dealership because they did do an update for the starters so that they start faster to prevent the car from flooding

Q: I’m looking for power, looks and “cool” but it has to be reliable too – Do I buy a used Mazda RX-8
I’m very keen on the looks and unique qualities of the RX-8 – the smooth engine, the Bose sound system and the general design of the car. However, I’ve heard that fuel economy and oil consumption are a problem, and that the car has poor build quality (e.g. easily worn seats). Do you own a Mazda RX-8? If so, how much do you spend on fuel & oil, and would you generally recommend the RX-8? If not, what would you recommend instead. I’m looking to spend around £12000 on a used car with great performance and looks.

A: I have a 2006 RX-8 GT. 10000km in, fuel economy getting better but it is respectable for a sports car. It only uses premium fuel though, I was told dont even try regular or you will wreck it. Oil consumption isnt bad, it all depends on how you drive it. I was told to check it every second gas fill, and add as necessary. Normally, I have to add less than a quarter litre, or nothing.

I hear bad things about the 2004, although I am told you shouldnt buy a car the 1st time it comes out, gotta work out the bugs in the first year I guess…

I have nothing bad to say about it, other than with winter coming i am a little scared to drive it. Need winter tires for sure.

I assume 12000 pounds is about $6000, and there is no way you will find an RX-8 for this?… unless it needs a rebuild, or its in pieces… rebuilding a rotary is tedious and very expensive, over double a normal combustion engine.

Good luck with your car search.. Zoom zoom!

Q: can you do a fuel injection service on a 05 mazda rx-8?
I recently went to wal-mart to get a fuel injection service and the mechanic send he couldnt perform the service because of the seals on the rotary engine. Is this true?

A: IF the Wal-mart tech actually does fuel injector cleaning by disable the RX8 fuel supply to injectors and then connect injector cleaning tool to your Mazda RX8 fuel injector high pressure line (remember: FUEL line) then run your engine using pressurized mixture of gasoline and strong cleaner: it will be OK. Most general repair shop and fast lube place will not do this kind of service because it requires higher skill technician, lot of information about fuel system of many make and model and lot of fuel line adapter (expensive) to work with many make and model.

So they normally do something else and call it injector service. They will add a can of injector cleaner into your gas tank. Everybody (including you) can do this by going to buy a bottle of injector cleaner and add to your gas tank at fill up. Next, they will install a UNIVERSAL kit to intake manifold to allow some kind of cleaner fluid to be draw into intake while the engine is running. This fluid will be burned in engine combustion charmber but never went throught injector at all so it will not do anything to clean your injectors.
This service is harmful to your engine and emission system (especially Rotary engine). It can damage catalyst converter, can cause engine lock up, long list of problem……..

If you really want to have injector clean, find a shop where they really do it. If you want Wal-mart way, just buy injector cleaner off the shell to add in your gas tank at fill up (waste of money)

Q: How much would a brand new mazda rx-8 wankel engine cost?
This question is for my project so please help me out and give me some sources on how much it would cost thanks alot

A: You should be able to find sources for rebuilt motors at the forums here:

http://www.rx8club.com

Rebuilt engines generally run around the $2000 mark.

New “crate” engines have to come from Japan as the only place the rotary’s are built are in Mazda’s plant in Hiroshima. I believe they cost in excess of $6000.

Q: What problems may I encounter with a Mazda RX-8?
I am thinking of purchasing one, but I have been hearing a lot of bad press about them. Please share any information you have about them or any experiences you have had.

A: They flood a lot. If you do not allow the car to completely warm up before shutting it off, it will flood. If you do not have time to wait for it to warm up, you can also rev it up to (i think) 5,000rpms for 8 seconds and this will burn the gas in the engine so it does not flood… Other then the flooding problem, I haven’t had any other problems. I love it!

Q: How many rotors does an Mazda RX-8 have in its engine?
How much horsepower does it have?

A: The Mazda RX-8 has an inline 4 cylinder engine (I-4) that produces 212hp. While it does have really aggressive styling, for the $27,000 price tag it’s really not that fast or powerful

The new V6 Mustangs are faster, more powerful, and $7,000 cheaper. For the price of an RX-8 you can get a V8 Mustang GT with over 300hp.

Although I have always loved the RX-8’s looks.

Q: Can Mazda RX-8’s come with a tow package?
Can Mazda RX-8’s come with a tow package? I need to tow my boat and looking for a seconed hand series 1.

A: IF YOU LOVE YOUR CAR DON’T DO IT.. NO MATER WHAT..

Q: What type of gas does a Mazda RX-8 use?
Does my 2004 Mazda RX-8 use regular gas? If not, can I?

A: I use shell v power at 98 ron and it works a treat. 95 ron works just as well but my recommendation is stay away from supermarket petrol.

Q: How Do I Change a Fuse on my 2004 Mazda RX-8?
I removed the cover to the fuse box and there is no diagram telling me which fuse goes to what like there is supposed to be. Also, when I use these plastic tweezers to try to pull out a fuse it won’t come out.

I have tried looking through the manual but it doesn’t provide the diagram. I have also tried searching online but have not had any luck.

A: the diagram is in the back of the the book for which fuses do what,,and it does show a good picture of this in there ,you have to pull hard on these fuses to get them out,,sometimes there a little stubborn to get out,,but they will come out,,and you,ll have to look good for the diagram,,but im sure its there,,i had one of those cars,,good luck with it,hope this help,s.

Q: Is it Possible To Install A new Head-Unit in a 2004 Mazda RX-8?
I have seen the interior of the RX-8 and it seems as if the car’s radio is also part of the air conditioning as well. I have always wanted to know, since i am thinking of buying one, if the stereo could be replaced with a new head unit if i took it to a Place taht does Car Audio. WOuld i be able to install like say, a Pioneer? Or a Sony Xplod?

A: yes it is u just have to buy da dash kit

Q: How much is the price for a mazda rx-8 in malaysia?

A: 89,507.58 Malaysian Riggits

Could be a lot more if Malaysia imposes excise and VAT taxes – the above value is the 2008 RX-8 Sport converted from US Dollars to Riggits.

Q: Does anyone know what kind of engine the mazda rx-8 has and can explain how it works?
It is not a regular gasoline 4 stroke or a diesel.

A: All good answers, here is what it looks like when it runs…

Q: What kind of gas does a Mazda RX-8 use?
What kind of gas does a Mazda RX-8 use?

A: Mazda recommends 91 octane although you can run lower.

I don’t recommend it, though. I tried running 89 and could feel a definite difference in throttle response.

Q: Can you fit people in the back of a mazda RX 8?
Can you?
or is it impossible haha
anybody with backseat experience in a mazda rx8?

A: The leg room is not the greatest unless the driver is a small person then its fine. I took mine on a road trip couple weeks back with four people total and we were perfectly fine for the 2hour drive and each one of us were around 6′.

Looking for a honda accord? Try the top automotive resource Import-Heaven.net

Q: I am looking to buy a new Honda Accord LX , 4 cylinder. What is a fair price to pay to a dealer?
The price should include destination charge. I will calulate the Sales Tax seperately. Many thanks!

A: $19,000 will get you a new one..

Q: What can I do to assure that I dont mess up my new Honda Accord.?
I scheduled an oil change for the 30th of this month. My oil life is down to 15% right now because I took a trip. I am a female who doesnt really know anything about cars, so to get that 15% up do all I have to do is put oil in? Or will it still say 15%

I have a honda accord 07.

Thanks

A: it does not mean that your low it means that once your down to around 15 to 20 percent left you need an oil change. This is an example if you just got you oil changed and your gauge was at 100 percent and you got 10,000 miles every time you changed your oil ( LIKE I SAID EXAMPLE) you would only have 1500 miles left. But usaully you only get 3 to 5 thousand miles every oil change so im going to say you have about 150 to 400 miles left so you get the idea

Q: Does anyone else think the new Honda Accord looks ROCKIN?
I loved the Accord circa 2001-2003… then it got UGLY. Now they came out with this new body style and OMG… I want one again. What do you think? Is it hot?

A: Looks like a Saturn…..

Q: got a red car stain on a new honda accord how do i remove it?
just got a new car and we got a red stain on the seats so whats the best product to remove it?

A: i would take it to a detail shop and let them do it because they got products that are stronger and better. if you try it you might make it worst.

Q: What’s the piano song in the new Honda Accord Crosstour commercial?
It’s pretty fast song, with an interesting rhythm. I love the song, but I don’t know it.. HELP!

A: You can ask here: http://www.splendad.com/brands/show/62-Honda since I cannot find the commercial you are talking about.

Q: I bought a new Honda accord 2006 what should I do?
I did not get the paint sealer ($500) or the interior protecter, should I just wax the car and spray scotch guard the seats?
Should I wait before I wax it? should I just scotch guard the cloth inside?

A: THANK YOU!! Finally someone who CARES about their car.

Best steps would be to get a can or two of 3M scott guard, found at any local stores. Ensure interior is clean, dry and freshly vacuumed. Open all doors, remove floor mats and spray down every inch of the material on the inside. Doors, seats, carpet, seat backs, under seats, floor mats outside, trunk, etc. Let air dry for an hour with all open. Put back together.

Exterior, find a local paint and body shop supply store, even a Napa (not autozone, auto parts warehouse, etc). Buy a good wax like 3M, Meguiar’s or Wizards and find a paint sealant as well. Ensure the car is washed good with a car wash soap, never dishwashing soap. Ensure it is fully dry. Apply the paint sealant like you would wax (out of the sun of course) and allow to dry/cure by the specs on the bottle. After you remove the paint sealant follow up with a coat of wax. Double waxing the front clip of the car (bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors). This is the area that takes the most abuse.

Yearly waxings should go by the color of the car but remember you can never over wax your car. Even a coat a day won’t hurt it but just protect it more and more.

White – 1 coat a year
Silver family – 2 coats a year
Gold family – 3 coats a year
Blue family – 4 coats a year
Red or Black – 6 coats a year

You did great buy not being suckered into the “new car treatment” from the dealership for $500. All that would of been was a detailer spraying your interior down with 3M scotch guard and running a fast paint sealant over the car. Never the quaily you will do yourself at home.

Q: There are few dents on my new honda accord (bcos of small accident that I did). How do I get rid of these?
I hit the fence when I was tring to backing up the car. The bumper was broken 4 inches long.

A: the bumper was “broken?” then you need to replace it, the stock bumper (i’m assuming since you bought it new) is made out of poly urethane. you can’t really “fix” those things, you could cover it up but why waste your money? it’s still gonna look funky. you should go and get a new bumper from precision auto parts. i think thats what it was called??? they are pretty good, decent parts, affordable, good fitment.

Q: Should I give a UAW member a ride to the unemployment office in my new Honda Accord?
Maybe I should just let him walk. The exercise may do a UAW member a lot of good since he has never had to work hard in his life.

A: if hes been a member of the UAW for 20yrs or more he does not need your ride he’s a millionaire and he’s driving an Escalade

Q: Are fuel comsumption figures for new Honda 2.2 ctdi accord near quoted figures?
Ok no figures on any car will match fiures given in press, I am interested in opinions from Honda Accord (new dieselmodel) owners
who have made the effort to compare fuel consumption figures in town and motorway. I am thinking of buying one.
How does it compare with BMW or Audi equivalents?

Thank you in advance

A: Why not read the reviews in Parkers Guide and Auto Express they both give good reports for the Honda. However, if you wants class and economy buy a German motor. The Honda should average 50MPG. A 2.0 ltr AudiA4 about 47 and BMW3 series 49MPG. The VW Passat though is best value though and will give you 48MPG. I have bought the Passat after spending weeks deciding between the Honda and German car. The VW is great to drive and own and the depreciation is excellent – unlike the Honda

Q: Is $18,900 a good price for a brand new 2009 honda accord?
i’m buying a car, and i was wondering if that was a cheap deal on a brand new honda accord with only like 30 miles on it. if not, what would be a cheap deal? thanks!

A: Depends is it fully loaded?

Either way in this market I would ask how close to $15,000 they can get. Around here in my parts you can pick one up for about $13K.

Q: Does anyone know the song used for the new Honda Accord commercial and who is singing it?
I have been going crazy trying to figure out the song that goes with the new Honda Accord commercial. Part of the lyrics are “hold on tight to your dream”. Does anyone know the song and possibly who sings it? I really believe I’ve heard the song before and know the artist.

A: “Hold On Tight” by ELO(Electric Light Orchestra)

Q: i bought new honda accord V4 and is it normal to get a noisy sound first when i start my engine ?

A: I have one and it’s not noisy – I would take it back for a check.

Q: Should I buy a new Honda Accord or a Mercury Marineer hybrid?
I’m single, family on the way, and I drive 50 miles per day avg. I’m on the fence!!

A: Honda Accord

It’s has much better ratings than the Escape/Marineer.

Q: It is better to buy a brand new Honda Accord (fully loaded) or buy a used 1-3 years old Mercedes C-230?
Assume that you have a budget of $30,000

A: Well it depends on the warranty… used cars rarely have good warranties and at times it can come in handy. Make sure a certified mechanic checks out the Mercedes before buying it.

Q: I have brand new Honda accord 2008 model with 7000 miles on it its due for its first service the light came on
Should I go for just oil change or its going to cost lot more then oil change. This is my first car and i have little knowldege about that please help.

A: i work in the service department at a honda dealership. what your car has is a maintance minder system. typically it will come on between 7500-10000 miles. at 7000, your car just needs an oil change. wait to get it serviced when its closer to 10,000 miles.

Q: NSX or new sports car?
A choice here to pick…

1991-2002 Acura NSX

or a brand new sports car?

list I may be looking at:
09 G37
09 BWM M3
09 S2000
or others you guys can point out!

btw… I always wanted a NSX but its used and its a expensive… dont know if its wroth my cash….

A: energy efficient! gotta save the earth

Q: What is the Honda In the new Fast and Furious that Mia Toretto drives?
It looks like an Acura NSX and I know honda and Acura are the same company… So I am just wondering if Honda had put their badges on the NSX during certain years

A: Honda NSX (Japan)

Acura NSX (United States)

Q: acura nsx radio problems?
I have a ‘99 and the reception comes and goes in bursts at consistent intervals, not as though it is a loose connection – from AM, FM, or CD mode. Any thoughts? New radios expensive as is, I am sure, repair.

A: Not only confirm connections but check to be sure you have a good ground connection as well. Otherwise replace from a wrecking yard.

Q: Is this really true? Wow?
Michael Jordan made over $300,000/game: $10,000 a minute, assuming he averaged about 30 minutes per game.

Assuming $40 million in endorsements, he made $178,100 a day (working or not)!

Assuming he slept 7 hrs a night, he made $52,000 every night.

If he goes to a movie, he’ll pay $7.00, but he’ll make $18,550.

He’ll make $3,710 while watching each episode of Friends.

If he wanted to save up for a new Acura NSX ($90,000), it would take him a whole 12 hours.

If you were given a tenth of a penny for every dollar he made, you’d be living comfortably at $65,000 a year.

In one year, he made more than 2X as much as past presidents for all of their terms combined.

Amazing isn’t it? . . .
BUT:
JORDAN WILL HAVE TO SAVE 100% OF HIS INCOME FOR 270 YEARS
TO HAVE A NET WORTH EQUIVALENT TO THAT OF BILL GATES.
this is a question cuz i’m asking if it’s true. and it is entertainment.

A: idk…
but if it is, I know who I need to become friends with…

Q: Why are automakers starting to make these four door SUV coupe things?
like the x6 and acura zdx. c’mon. I cant believe like acura is making the zdx instead of a new nsx. ITs funny cause i read somewhere that Acura wont make the NSX cause apparently noone will buy it. The ZDX wont attract any buyers either.

A: i totally agree, but not only that the x6 is more money than an m3. the thing i don’t get is that the x6 is meant to be a fun-to drive car, right? but it offers none of the practicality, off road capability, or space that a normal suv can provide, so what’s the point?

IF YOU WANT A $50K FUN TO DRIVE CAR, YOU’RE GOING TO BUY THE M3 NOT THE X6!!!!

because of this, i see the x6 as a really pointless vehicle.

and the nsx was a honda, but rebadged as an acura. i would have liked a new nsx too, but if honda thinks that things like the zdx will earn them money, then let them find out that nobody wants that kind of car.

the rest of us looking for a fun-to-drive car will buy the m3.

Q: Jock vs. Nerd?
$ Michael Jordan having “retired,” with $40 million in endorsements, makes $178,100 a day, working or not.

$ If he sleeps 7 hours a night, he makes $52,000 every night while visions of sugarplums dance in his head.

$ If he goes to see a movie, it’ll cost him $7.00, but he’ll make $18,550 while he’s there.

$ If he decides to have a 5 minute egg, he’ll make $618 while boiling it.

$ He makes $7,415/hr more than minimum wage.

$ He’ll make $3,710 while watching each episode of Friends.

$ If he wanted to save up for a new Acura NSX ($90,000) it would take him a whole 12 hours.

$ If someone were to hand him his salary and endorsement money, they would have to do it at the rate of $2.00 every second.

$ He’ll probably pay around $200 for a nice round of golf, but will be reimbursed $33,390 for that round.

$ Assuming he puts the federal maximum of 15% of his income into a tax deferred account (401k), his contributions will hit the federal cap of $9500 at 8:30 a.m. on January 1st.

$ If you were given a penny for every 10 dollars he made, you ‘d be living comfortably at $65,000 a year.

$ He’ll make about $19.60 while watching the 100 meter dash in the Olympics, and about $15,600 during the Boston Marathon.

$ While the common person is spending about $20 for a meal in his trendy Chicago restaurant, he’ll pull in about $5600.

$ This year, he’ll make more than twice as much as all U.S. past presidents for all of their terms combined.

Amazing isn’t it? However…

$ If Jordan saves 100% of his income for the next 450 years, he’ll still have less than Bill Gates has today.

I found this on the internet and I thought it was funny

A: Wow.
That’s amazing.

At first I was jealous of Michael Jordan… but damn that Bill Gates!! Damn him miserably!!

Btw, don’t you know? In Polls & Surveys, people don’t answer questions any longer than one or two sentences. Most are incapable and only answer “questions” for quick laughs and trolling.

A: Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!!!.

Q: How could I email Acura and tell them they are idiots for making this car?
http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/07/acura-zdx-concept-caught-uncloaked-ahead-of-new-york-debut/

seriosly, just bring back the NSX already
yea dude it says has 290 Hp, its called the new model would recieve a better engine

A: Not a bad looking car.

But I agree they should bring back the NSX. Last I heard, they were going to drop a 400hp V8 in it…..

Q: 3000gt rv4 or a 91′ NSX?
so im currently looking at both a 97′ mitsubishi 3000gt rv4…and a 91′ Acura NSX. both are manual….both are very sharp looking cars. the 3000gt has the stock twin turbo [comes with the rv4 setup] a set of aftermarket light covers, and a brand new set of 18″ enkei racing rims, fire red, tan leather interior, it is a very sharp looking car. the nsx is a onyx black with black leather interior, a honda spec v6 i think, and im not sure if it has turbo on it or not. both of these cars will turn heads on the road no matter what [which is what we all want with our car right?]….and both can put some power down on the road as well. NSX’s are VERY hard to come by at the price i found this one for especially for how close it is to where i live…..and the 3000gt is a steal. i just wanted thoughts on which i should maybe put more interest into…..i know it comes down to the driver and how the car feels along with personal preferance but other opinions do help lol. i have not physically seen either car yet except for pictures and videos of the actual cars, but i have talked to both owners via email and phone calls and they say both run great. so whats your opinion? 3000gt rv4…..or a NSX?

A: NSX a slow cars? faster than the 3000GT VR4

Q: I have $25,000 to buy a nice car, what route should I go?
I need a new car that is a real eye catcher (my Ford stang just is not doing it) plus I want to get somthing Sleek looking for when I pick up dates. I could get a Acura NSX, 2002 Maserati Coupe, etc? What should I get? I really want to stand out.

A: A little vain aren’t we?

Buy a used ‘Vette. You can’t afford the upkeep on a Maserati or NSX.

Q: ive got the audi r8 yes the new one (problem)?
well yes ive got one and i sport performed it , tuned it and even spent 250 grand on it goin to europe and getting tuned. i one many show case tournements and won many drag races but 3 days ago i killed the competition out of mind like lambos and ferraris . but the king of drag that was there was driving a acura nsx beat me 3 times . my audi of 957 hp got beaten by a acura . im gonna die please help

A: You are full of crap, I remember a few days ago you posted this topic.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ag19Np4Hj4r.s6uzFwwS8WHty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080402180204AAVMjbM

So quit being an attention whoring loser. You didn’t poof 250 grand out of thin air when you talk like you can’t even afford your favorite tuner.

Q: Porsche lovers: What do you think about the new Nissan GT-R?
The 2008 Nissan GT-R recently beat the track record of the Porsche Turbo at the Nurburgring and it has a 0-60 time in 3.5 sec. It is also more aerodynamic. And finally, it only costs only ~$80,000. What do you think about the Nissan GT-R vs. the Porsche Turbo?

Here’s a link:

Not so long ago, we thought the Audi R8 was going to get some of Porsche’s sales, but now, the Nissan GT-R is a viable contender. What are your thoughts? The Japanese are bringing the Acura NSX, Lexus LF-A, and Toyota Supra here soon. Do you think Porsche needs to worry?

A: No matter what you do to it, it is still a Nissan. You will have plenty of boobs living in the suburbs going oooh-ahhh and buying them. However, I assure you that said boobs would rather have a Porsche.

I have an ‘06 911 Carrera 4s and love it. I’d gladly drop another $80k on a second 911 before I’d spend $40k, let alone $80k on a Nissan.

I’m currently on the road driving from Ontario to Florida in my 911, I lost count how many waves, thumbs up, honks, etc. I have received while driving. I assure a Nissan won’t draw that kind of admiration on the road.

Q: Thinkin about an Acura?
I’ve been an Acura owner in the past and I’ve been contemplating another one. Any suggestions on models? Newer and used?

What can I expect for price in looking for a used NSX? Mid 1990s to later?

A: GO with the NSX. Yeah!

http://motors.shop.ebay.com/Cars-Trucks__?_mak=Acura&_mod=NSX&_flso=0&_fspt=0&_sadis=-1&_lsbx=2&_fpos=Enter+ZIP+to+see+local+listings

Hope this helps – Matt

Q: Honda 2009?
What do you think of this car? > http://www.automobilemag.com/new_and_future_cars/2009/0701_2009_acura_nsx/

A: It’s okay. It isn’t anything that impressive, but it’s not bad. It kinda looks like the modernized NSX. You should look at this Honda concept car. This is the best looking Honda I’ve seen in a while: http://www.diseno-art.com/images/Honda_HSC.jpg

Looking for a bmw m3? Try the top automotive resource Import-Heaven.net

Q: Is the SMG Transmission of BMW same as the new M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic in the E92 M3?
Since the M6 and M5 both have 7-speed SMGs, does the new BMW M3 have it in another name – M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic? (aside from the manual transmission, of course).

A: The transmission in the new M3 is called M DCT (Dual clutch transmission) It is a form of of direct shift gearbox (DSG) just now has better technology and dual clutch.
Read to the bottom of this link, where it mentions the M3

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin-clutch_gearbox

Q: Does anyone know the regular price for a new BMW M3?
Can you tell me what a new BMW M3 2009 coupe would cost?

A: base price:Sedan=54K
Convertable=66k
Coupe=58k
+ features=3-4000+ dealer mark-ups.

You are probably looking at at least 62k, 75, 67k Respectivly

Q: What determines the redline in the new BMW M3/M5/M6?
I have noticed that in every car model (M3, M5, M6) the redline is either at around 8400 like BMW always rags about, but then other times the redline is around 6500-7000. Anyone know what it is the causes the change?

A: Actually it’s not that different. The 2007-spec M5 and M6 share the 5L 500hp V10 so the redline on both of those is 8250rpm. But the M3 has a 4L 420hp V8 with a redline of 8400rpm.

Q: Would you guys rather have a new Corvette Z06 or new BMW M3 Coupe?
Whats faster, hotter, turns more heads? Z06 or the M3? Feedback appreciated!

A: Z06 id probably go for but then again i couldnt turn down an M3 if offered lol
dream car though would be an aston martin vanquish

Q: what is the minimum wage per year does a man(single) have to make to afford owning a brand new bmw m3?
Including insurance for someone with no accidents no tickets and clean record.
and also what if he had saved enough and paid it in full. is it easier this way so that you only pay for insurance?

A: YOu are not the only person who have ever met this kind of problem,I met this type of problem before.I have good experience here www.AutoInsuranceFree.info to solve the problem.

Q: In five years, how much will the the new BMW M3 08 cost?
Since im thirteen and i want a M3 when im 18 and i was just wondering.

A: Since in 2012, it’ll be a used car, it’s all going to depend on if BMW has any major recalls on the vehicle after it comes out, what kind of condition the car is in, how many miles are on it, and what the market is like for those cars. So, this early, tis’ really hard to tell. But, I would probably say about 30% less than the MSRP.

Q: Why do most people compare the New BMW M3 to the Audi RS4 when the Audi is a 4 dr Saloon?
Shouldn’t they be comparing it to comething like a Mercedes CLK63 AMG Coupe

A: they are in the same price class they are the same size and are really direct competitors. I believe BMW will be releasing a 4 door M3 as well and Audi may be coming out with an RS5 coupe .

Q: Chicks, what color should I pick for my new BMW M3?
I like the black metallic and the blue metallic, and the interior I want in Fox Red. What color do you girls find the most sexy on that(or any) car?

A: Get it in white with the red leather interior, that would turn a straight man gay.

Q: Which to get, used 2008 BMW M3, or new 2009 Audi S5?
I know one is faster than the other of course, but is getting a used M3 especially, might not have warranty, and so on, but prices should be almost identical. OR would you get a New BMW 335i???

A: I would get the 2008 BMW M3, maybe just because I’m a BMW fan, but another reason why I would pick this car is because of the new V8 motor in it which produces a 414 hP with 425 pounds of torque. The handling is just beautiful, the suspension is the best, and style is just breathtaking.

So please do you and me a favor and buy the BMW M3. :]

Thanks

Q: When will the new BMW M3 be released?
This is going to be the greatest car ever made.

A: the new 2008 M3 will be released next February or March..

Q: Does the new BMW M3 engine suffer the same VANOS problems as the older models?
For that matter do any other engines fitted to 3 series suffer? The Alpinas?

A: No the new Vanos systems have been vary good. Even the older ones work well when taken car of and the proper oil was used.

Q: How much is a brand new BMW M3 convertable going for?

A: MSRP $56,600

Fully loaded with everything you can possialby add
$68,283

Q: Where Can I Find Pictures Of The New BMW M3, Not yet released on sale?

A: Try this site, they have everything:

www.bimmerfest.com/forums

Good luck!

Q: What do you think of the new BMW M3?
Is this your dream car? I would like to own one someday. And what color looks best. I say white or black.

A: The new M3 is magnificent. The new engine works perfectly, everything does, to be honest, except there’s this controversy about the DSC, if I’m not mistaken, and that really let it down. The looks are that of a monster that’s gonna eat me or something, and the mere fact that this is already much stronger than the old one, has a higher displacement than the old one, has 2 more cylinders than the old one, already sends shivers up my spines. If you do want one, I suggest you get one now. You don’t really know what you’re missing.

Q: How do you think the new 2008 BMW M3 will go against upcoming competition?
I saw the m3 video on insideline and I love the exhast note. How do you think it compares with the Audi RS4, Mercedes C63 AMG, and the upcoming Lexus IS-F? For around $60,000, would you rather get a different car?

A: Hey, the RS4 has a mean exhaust note too. The M3 and RS4 offer the same performance (0-60 in 4.8 s), while the IS-F, according to the website for lexus, does 0-60 in 4.9. The Mercedes is around there as well. The RS4 is probably your best choice for a daily driver, with the performance of the M3 and the space of a sedan, not to mention Audi’s excellent Quattro AWD system. However, the Lexus is by far the most dependable luxury car brand out there. Mercedes screams mid-life crisis. The M3 probably has the best looks, but may not be the best choice for an only car. If it were up to me, I would pick the RS4
