Q: How do I get new car keys for rx-8?
I am planning on winning an rx-8 from an auction, it say’s no keys. So how would I get keys for it?
A: The RX8 uses special “chipped” keys.
Although you can program them yourself if you know how, you will need to buy them from a Mazda dealer…and they ain’t cheap!
Q: What are the differences between the 2009 rx-8 and the 2010 rx-8?
What are the differences between the 2009 rx-8 and the 2010 rx-8?
A: Just some minor styling differences on the front fascia/bumper. Nothing major.
Q: How do I get more speed out of my RX-8?
I have a 07 Mazda RX-8. I was going to put a turbo in it, but have heard that it is a waste of money because the RX-8 is built more for handling. I already have a racing suspension and rims, so I would like to add some speed and horsepower. If you have any suggestions please let me know.
A: As Zach says, although the RX8 is built as a road course car, adding extra HP is never a bad thing. Do note that just adding intake, header, and exhaust systems to the RX8 add very little HP. Mazda did a very good job at maximizing intake and exhaust flow. You will NOT get anywhere near 20 HP from any exhaust system on an RX8.
Be careful in choosing which turbo or supercharger system you want to install. If you own a 6 spd manual with the 9000+ redline, many turbo systems aren’t suitable as their airflow peak is around 7000 rpm.
Go to these RX8 forums and do a lot of reading to learn what systems are best.

Q: Is it a bit late to buy a brand new rx-8 now?
Given that RX-8 has been out for more than 4 years, is it a bit late to buy it car brand new now?
A: No it’s not too late. The aftermarket parts are just beginning to appear in the market. Tuning enthusiasts often have to wait patiently for aftermarket parts to be developed for their brand new cars. Unless their new cars do not have much changes in the chassis or engine compared to the former models.
The other reason is the development of Rotary Engine cars is very slow. Before the RX-8, the last RX-7 FD series appeared in the market in the early nineties. Unlike other performance cars, you get a new Evo in the market almost every year.
Q: Is it possible to fit an inline 6 engine in an RX-8?
I was wondering if an inline 6 cylinder engine would fit in an RX-8? Obviously some modifications will be required but I was thinking it might be too long to fit in there?
How about an inline 4 our a V6? Or possibly a V8?
A: it will be hard as your going to replace a rotary engine and the rx8 is designed for that but you can give it a go hope you have the funds bro gud luk
Q: How much would it cost to replace the back window of a Mazda RX-8 model?
So yeah I accidentally got a crack into the back window of someones car and they said its should be like 200 dollars.
A: quit bein lazy and call some auto glass shops. pardon the lazy comment, but really. A professionals word is much better than what you’ll get on here. Atleast then you know it will be local, and an accurate cost.
Q: How much much would it cost to fix an mazda rx-8 bumper?
hi there.
I backed into the front of another car and the back driver side bumper caved in, I was wondering if I brought it to a body shop, how much it would be. thank you!
A: http://www.ilovebodykits.com/product/26559/Buddy_Club_Rear_Bumper_RX8.html
after market rear bumper, use it to replace ur broken one or just buy a new OEM one from the dealer. all the labor bodywork on the broken bumper wud be too expensive (since labor is aprox 50 buck an hour) so you just gotta pick your option. If the bumper is really damaged then just buy a new one.those rear bumper usually go for $300 (used) to $700 (new) for “normal” bumper (not carbon fiber and all that fancy stuff)
Q: How expensive or difficult is it to maintain a Mazda RX-8 in great working conditions?
A: Too many variables, modded or stock? average miles/year or garage queen?
I’d just get an RX-7, faster and look better IMO.
Q: Has anyone added a tubo to their RX-8, and if so was the outcome rewarding?
I have an RX-8 and was pondering putting in a Greddy turbo system, but am reluctant because of problems that could occur with the engine. Any ideas?
A: adding a turbo kit to any engine is rewarding. The greddy kits are made for low boost levels, as long as you don’t pump up the boost too much, your engine should be fine. Have at it
Q: What does Mazda’s 100k miles and 8 year engine warranty cover on the RX-8?
I know that mazda does the 100,000 mile and 8 year warranty on the rotary engine for the rx8 but does that cover any thing to do with the engine assuming the car is left stock and scheduled maintenance is performed? So if the engine starts misfiring or anything else that would be covered?
A: The 8 year 100K mile motor warranty is an extension that Mazda has provided to RX8 owners due to early engine failures caused by lubrication issues. This warranty is separate from the standard or extended warranty’s that came with the car or were purchased extra.
It is an “engine core” only warranty. It covers the rotor housings & endplates, rotors, eccentric shaft, and internal seals and bearings and that’s it.
If the mis-firing were caused by internal seal failure (unlikely) then that would probably be covered. But if the mis-firing is caused by bad coils/plugs/wires (more likely) then it would not be covered by that motor warranty.
Q: How much would it cost to rebuild a Mazda RX-8 rotary engine?
also can it be rebuilt even if it has 200K miles on it?
A: $700 to $1100 depending on the place you have it done at.
Rotaries are much easier to rebuild because they only have 3 main moving parts. But they are less common so people are more likely to claim they are harder to rebuild and charge you way too much.
Q: How much would it cost to repair a manual tranny on a ‘04 Mazda Rx-8?
I have grinded reverse on my car 5 times now..if it ever goes..How much would it cost to repair reverse on the car? Thanks!
It’s just reverse that I grind..I never grind the other gears on my car..It would cost that much just to fix the reverse gear?
A: They will rebuild the whole thing at $1,500.
Q: How can you make the RX-8 more fuel efficient?
I like this car but Consumers Report said it only gets about 17 mpg. What are some ways to make it more fuel efficient and how much would the mpg go up with these changes?
A: there are few ways
adding cold air intake
get a better tire, always check air in tire
lighter wheel
buy expensive motor oil
but rotaries are always bad on gas anyway, why bother…
beside it’s a sports car.
Q: I am getting a Mazda Rx 8 and a turbo should i get a manual 6 speed or a 4 speed automatic?
i wont the one that will give me the most Speed and Power….And Dose the tubro cause the whislting sound and air sound when shifting gears? if not what dose?
A: wow do not get a automatic, everyone will laugh at you if you turbo it, i agree go with the twin turbo rx-7, those things look better, handle really good, super light weight, and with more mods than the rx8. so with the money that you would buy the turbo, you could prob add another 300-500 extra hp out of a 13b twin turbo
